Anyone have any good meditations....
....for getting through a plane flight? Some may remember that I've had a resurgence of anxiety issues lately, and while I've never in my life had a problem with flying, all of a sudden this past weekend I had a LOT of anxiety on a plane, and have to fly again THIS weekend.

Light and thoughts appreciated, of course.

On a lighter note, if anyone is in or around DC, I'll be singing the Bach "St. John Passion" at the National Cathedral on Sunday afternoon, information at the link!

9. Thanks Peake
I have seen this post before, and have been trying this meditation from time to time....I don't know why, but it hasn't really "clicked" with me yet....maybe because I usually try it when I'm already anxious, instead of just sitting down and doing it whenever...?

10. I'm surprised that more folks don't get something from it.
I find that it works best when I "waterbed", or loosen and surrender as best I can, ask Archangel Micheal to do the work, visualisation, etc., and with attention upon the spine, inhale and exhale mentally stating "Infinity Breath" on each in and outbreath.

You have to do the dedication mentioned on the site. I saw that it said on other sites that this is the energy that God uses, Zero Point or something similar, and that bringing it into the world for purposes of good is of definite merit. I notice that when I practice it, I gain happiness and the environment improves. (I also do the Eastern thing and dedicate the merit for the meditation to God, to do with as God wills.)

If you just want to still your senses, try the mindful breathing techniques. This becomes very powerful after you practice it a while.

I hope that your trip is great fun.

7. Wow!
Yes, that's EXACTLY the root of my fear....which I knew already, but didn't realize that it was more common than just ME. I'm not afraid of heights, claustrophobic, worried about mechanical failure, etc. etc.......

6. Breathing to slow down your heart rate.
I was recently taught this breathing exercise to do when I feel emotionally tight in my chest - whether it's fear, anxiety, anger, excitement. I tend to hold my breath at times, and my chest and heart start to hold deep, tense energy, and my heart accelerates, and the tension then feeds on itself.

To relax the heart:

Breathe in through your nose, a full breath, then release it slowly through your mouth, as if you were blowing out the candles on a birthday cake. Your outbreath should be focused, somewhat slow, and steady, and your lips forming a small, relaxed o. I had to envision a cake full of candles and pretend to blow it out before I could understand the feel of it.

Repeat this several times, and your heart rate will slow.

8. Thanks Dora
I do a similar breathing thing, which DOES work without fail....my problem is projecting into the future and thinking "but will it work NEXT time?". I just have to stay rooted in the now!
