Interesting Information on Epsom Salts
http://www.care2.com/greenliving/health-benefits-of-epsom-salt-baths.html

This brings us to Epsom salt. Known scientifically as hydrated magnesium sulfate, Epsom salt is rich in both magnesium and sulfate. While both magnesium and sulfate can be poorly absorbed through the stomach, studies show increased magnesium levels from soaking in a bath enriched with Epsom salt! Magnesium and sulfate are both easily absorbed through the skin. Sulfates play an important role in the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and the proteins that line the walls of the digestive tract. They stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and are thought to help detoxify the body of medicines and environmental contaminants.

This second link is focused on epsom salts to help those with autism and phenol sensitivity. I include it because it shows how healing epsom salts can be in helping the body detox.

As I am not a bath person I have started soaking my feet regularly in water with epsom salts. I would even be doing it now if I wasn't worried I could some how shock myself by typing with wet feet!

I've posted this a brazilian times. It's Cayce's recipe for psychic detox.
Take baths. If you have no bathtub available, then bathe around. Aaaand
don't tell me that you have no extra time for baths, as baths take about
15 minutes, showers take 5-10. No one is really that busy or all too
important to not be able to do so.

Cayce recommended adding 1 part baking soda to 2 parts Epsom Salts
for baths. That stuff is really cheap. and readily available. I add
my fave oil (lavender). You can add yours. Ritual full immersion is
an age old, time & tried tradition for more than just physical
purification. It is especially so for more sensitive sorts. It is great
to do during lunations. That would mean, once every two weeks or so.
It is alleged to release all sorts of accumulated psychic effluvia
from bodies and auric fields . I just know that when I take one, I
invariably feel reborn, and am reminded that I too have a life, instead
of contemplating the troubles of others all the time as is my
ridiculously inherent proclivity.

Addendum from ccpup's grammy: dunk under at least three times.

baking soda from the hair?

6. Of course they soak it all in during meetings ;=D
And then they want us to soak it all in, as well.

I read everything about the health, beauty and plants benefits from Epsom Salt. I was amazed at some of the info about diabetes and other ailments that one never really thinks about.

I have taken epsom salt baths before, but never on a regular basis. However, I think I'm gonna start taking salt baths more regularly.

It sounds like something to experiment with. I plan on starting later today, I have a small bag already just for that purpose.

Also I read where you can purchase large qualities at feed stores, which I plan on going to one this week for my garden needs.

You mentioned in your other post about lunation's.

Which part of the lunar cycles are you referring to, new moon/full moon cycles?.?.?

The reason I ask is because a lot of the sites I checked out was saying 3 times a week were preferable, but maybe that's just to get you to purchase more salt. I don't think it would hurt to do it that often, but your suggestion about the lunar cycles intrigued me.

7. Lunations is a term for Full and New Moons and in many cultures
people would do ritual immersions during them.

Droves still hop into the Ganges during eclipses.

There are plenty of other astrological influences that are appropriate for detoxing but I'd say that there aren't really any inappropriate times to bathe.

Probably just do it when you feel like it. It's not as though you'll turn into a prune or anything.

Splish splash and here. . .

Just so you don't get lonely.

12. I used to love soaking in Epsom salt baths.
When I moved 3 years ago, I discovered that the bathtub needs replacement. I don't have the money to replace it, so all I get are showers. I miss those long, hot soaks.

13. I love epsom salts, and I have a great story.
I've been using them for years, and four years ago I decided not to go back to Paris without some. After walking the students around all day, nothing is better than to soak in a hot epsom salt bath and release tensions. I took a huge baggie full, and then on the way home I decided to take the leftovers (I buy it in 50 pound bags, but I'm partial to it. In France they well it in small packets, for a laxative. They don't know about its' use as a soak.) As luck would have it, my luggage was chosen for a long check by the guards. I had packed everything meticulously, and I could see they were frustrated because everything was so neat, so easily found. Then they spotted my baggie of white crystals, and holding it up with forefinger and thumb, the inspector said, "What eeeess This?" The students all knew; they were standing around, watching. They had been on the receiving end of my salts a few times.
"It is epsom salts," I said. Then realized they didn't know the word. "Magnesium sulfate," I said. Then, "Pour le bain."
The inspector looked at me in shock, disbelief.
"Look, you can have them," I said. "I have more at home."
That remark almost got me in more trouble.
"We are not allowed to take things from you!"
OK fine, I said.
Somehow I made it on the plane. But I never, ever took white crystals of anything in a baggie again. Geesh.

Edited on Sun Mar-16-08 08:45 PM by stellanoir
She wanted to take baking soda in a plastic bag to use as a really effective deodorant.

I said, "Forget about it." You'll get hassled.

She and her half sister got hassled anyway due to the metal rods her now deceased half sister had in her body.

Bags of white crystals are simply not as the first Pres Bush said, "prudent."

Don't be silly folks. You can buy this stuff anywhere.

And it's cheap.

15. Thanks for posting this
I used to take mega doses of magnesium for a heart arrhythmia and it was the essential supplement that helped. After surgery, I was fine for awhile but, alas, my electrical problems are trying to reassert themselves and I'm devastated. I've restarted the magnesium but this is great to hear about the baths. With some of the meds I'm on, detoxing is probably as critical as the magnesium. I've always avoided epsom salts because I thought they put "salt" in your body. Now I will go out and get some tomorrow. This is great to know. Thanks again for posting!

18. Thanks, Shallah
I read all the articles and saw that. I will put it in my self-doctored lotions for the summer where I add a little tincture of iodine to give myself a tan - just a little or you end up looking jaundiced ;-)

But I think I need the soaks more. Water to wash away my sins and my impurities and... well, it's the time of year for that. Tomorrow I see a holistic healer for the first time and I'll post anything she has to add.

Thanks,
H.D.

17. Cures tiger bites
honestly, I have a friend who worked in zoos. She said that a man who'd been mauled by a tiger survived because he soaked in epsom salts. The hotter and stronger the solution the better. She told me this while instructing me how to clear an infected splinter in my finger.

21. This is from one of the post on the first link
I have been doing colon hydrotherapy to detox which is amazing, in addition my health practitioner told me to take Epsom Salt baths as well to detox. She told me to include Organic Apple Cider Vinegar as well which is also a major detoxifer and alkalizes the body, wonderful results!

I sounds intriguing.

What do you guys think about this?.?.?

22. More on benefits of epsom salt from epsom salts council
http://www.epsomsaltcouncil.org/articles/Sulfation_Benefits_072204.pdf

I really need to read this once I can focus better {flu}. I have celiac disease which damages the digestive tract and probably have leaky gut and ibs as well. recently I started digestive enzymes just to see if they would help and got wonderful results. not a total cure of my digestive issues but a great improvement. Reading that the sulfate is needed for a body to make digestive enzymes and have a healthy digestive tract shows I really need to use this.

23. When I was young we used Epsom Salts to fight infection
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 05:03 PM by Disorganized
In the days before antibiotics I twice had foot infections with red lines going up my legs. Each time I was kept home from school, soaked my foot in Epsom Salts for an hour, out for hour, in for an hour, etc throughout the day and evening. Took a week but worked.

Edited for spelling.

25. Oh! I miss my baths!
Got a nasty UTI last year--I'm pretty sure from bathing--so I gave them up. Maybe I'll try the foot soak with Epsom, though. That sounds nice. (And I'm a dancer, so maybe it'll help!)
