May I have some DU love, please? :)
:hi:

Wow...I haven't perused the various DU groups in a long time. The energy of the main boards has kept me away for a good month or so now. But that's actually good, as many creative ventures have come to the fore. I've been to the alternate religion/pagan forum here, but I honestly don't recall being here in a long, long time. This is a wonderful space!

I have a favor to ask of you, if you are so inclined and/or feel led to do so.

I collaborated on a novel recently (a significant rewrite, research and editing - though prefer to have my name inside, not on the cover), and am now starting a marketing campaign. It's commercial fiction, but can be classified as a spiritual mystery.

The listed author wants to try being signed by a traditional publisher before entertaining self-publishing. And that's fine; I'm actively querying agents/editors now.

Regardless of how it manifests, I would love a grassroots effort...I ALWAYS prefer a grassroots effort - - and would be most grateful if you guys could spare a few minutes to check out the video trailer I created for the book and increase the view count.

The video will, hopefully, give you a feel for the storyline. I'm not posting the name of the novel here, because those pesky search engines seem to pick up on DU posts like wildfire. I'd prefer the youtube link or book website come up on a Google search instead. :)

It's on Youtube and Myspace. I thank you, thank you, thank you in advance!

And I wished you and yours a blessed day, week, month, year.....

If the book is as good as the trailer, you have a winner.

4. Very cool
Good luck with it.

Spiritual adventures can certainly sometimes threaten one's security for sure but for me at least, turning back is not an option.

Glad that you checked in here again and shared your creative expression.

Love the blues song.

Are you an Ann Rice fan ?

7. Hey, stellanoir....
thank you for watching the video.

This was a VERY emotional project for me. It started off with a friend of a friend (a very bizarre, synchronistic occurrence, as I hadn't seen this friend in years), contacting me to edit her story. It was rather basic, but as I read through, I realized the potential...the potential to not only be entertaining but radiate a message about perceptions and perspectives...and bring some human conflicts to light to be healed. It's created to be a four-part series.

My father passed very suddenly and unexpectedly just as I dove into the rewrite. I walked the path of the main character, and many of my experiences became her own...emotional experiences. It was very cathartic and certainly a project near and dear to me. Even though I prefer to not have my name on the cover, the listed author knows this is as much my baby as hers.

I just remembered that I need to post the preface to the book's website. While use of a preface is considered against prevailing wisdom in the publishing world (but I tend to always go against prevailing wisdom when my intuition says otherwise ;) ), it is what has attracted agents/publishers thus far (nothing solid...still in the ethers...lol).

Yes, I do like Anne Rice's work. I haven't read any of her new stuff - I saw her interviewed recently and she talked about how she will only write from a Christian perspective now. Interesting....

Yep, when I found that music clip, it was purrrrrrrfect. Like I said, I'm not a techie/graphic/moviemaking person, but it came together rather nicely for a first attempt at such a thing. I am working with a few other authors now and plan to do video trailers for them as well. I REALLY enjoy that.

The musician is John-Alex Mason, the song is "Cypress Grove Blues."

Thanks again!

12. Thanks!!!
I know, I thought the trailer idea was soooooooooooo cool. I'm always trying to stay on top of innovative marketing/PR opportunities (and stay far away from anything potentially scammy...lol....like I said, I prefer transparent, grassroots efforts).

Thank you for checking it out and for the positive feedback. I think with lots of positive energy coming together, I'll be able to say, "Hey, here's where you can get it!" soon!

:)

13. Looks like a book I would enjoy reading.
Edited on Sun Apr-06-08 03:19 PM by Cleita
I will look for it in the future when I go book shopping.

Best of luck on this. It looks like it could be a could movie too. The trailer was great. When you are sorry it's over and want more, you know it's great.

I'm ready to read the book. Just having returned from a trip through Louisiana, it really piqued my interest. Thanks for sharing the information.

23. Well, that would be quite the personal challenge for me...LOL
I've always been afraid to go on bridges over long expanses of water. HOWEVER, I learned how to swim about six years ago (I'm 44!) - I had a lifelong fear of being in water above neck level - and it was THE MOST liberating experience of my life! I don't have the fear of bridges any longer, but I haven't crossed one 18 miles long. ;)
