Wickfordbard's 1st Scorpio Full Moon 2008 Newsletter
Scorpio Full Moon, April 20, 2008

Well, we could be in for some intensity on this first Scorpio Full Moon of 2008.

The important thing to remember about New and Full Moons is that they are part of a cyclic relationship between the Sun and Moon and Earth – the Soli-Lunar cycle. The Sun, which we on Earth can't look at directly, reflects off the Moon, in a waxing and waning cycle which begins at the New Moon, culminates at the Full Moon when it is opposite the Sun, and then wans back to the next New Moon. The Moon takes the Sun's light and tones it down to a silvery reflective light, like a mirror, which makes solar activity objective and clearly perceptible (like how dreams reflect back to us the truth of our conscious lives); she transforms the solar impulse into a thing to be analyzed and actualized. The phases of the moon represent how consciousness develops gradually throughout the month, as well as nurturing the purpose of the month's solar energy. Just like tomatoes, we can only grow in the dark. In Moonlight and Starlight. In our dreams and sleep.

Every 13 to 19 months the moon cycle flips, so that the Full Moon comes before the new Moon in a sign. During these months, things feel out of synch. It's not bad, just out of harmony – more like the difference between major and minor chords in music. The usual cycle is reversed. When a Full Moon comes in a sign before the New Moon, we have to take what's already been realized and make something new of it. We must become conscious first and then give our instincts room to play. So it feels more difficult and needs more consciousness. Did you feel like that for the past year and a half? As if there wasn't an easy flow to your life?

This Scorpio Full Moon will end the present reversed Moon cycle that began on September 22, 2006 with the second New Moon (a solar eclipse) at 29 Virgo. Starting with the Taurus New Moon on May 5th the cycle will revert back to 'normal' with another Full Moon at 29+ Scorpio on May 19-20. For the first time since July 21, 2005 we will have what is really a blue moon - two Full Moons in the same astrological sign - which is probably the original Blue Moon. What special significance would two full moons in a calender month have? It is special, however, to have two full moons in an astrological sign – signifying a shift in the cycle and an emphasis on the two archetypes constellated by these signs .

So when the shift happens, it concentrates energy in two signs, either as two new moons or as two full moons. This time it shifts in the signs of Taurus and Scorpio, the two signs that deal with life and death, summer and winter, values and worth-both inner and outer, acquisition and letting go, security and change.

When the Sun moves into the sign of Taurus the new year energy of Aries takes hold of materiality. Intuitive choices are made. Like the land in springtime, things start to grow again. Miraculous! Life! Aries energy contains the new cosmic impulse of life, which wants to explore and go off in different directions of discovery. Now that this year's Aries Fire was weighed in the Libran scales at the last Full Moon, the Taurus Sun feels its potency – the bull is an apt symbol for the power of that incarnated energy. Horses are frolicking, flowers are budding, the winds are blowing.

1. Niiiiice. This may be about to get REALLY interesting for me.
I have Scorpio on the Ascendant, and Scorp Full Moons are typically intense for me because of that. (Last year's Scorpio FM had me wanting to rip someone's lungs out.)

2. I liked the article
I liked your article and appreciated the Mars/Venus imagery you used later on. Mars needs more than love in the arms of Venus, though- he needs a challenge, a reason to get up in the morning, a way to surmount insecurity. I think that asking Mars to deny his nature is as cruel and unhealthy as de-clawing a cat.

For people who only have time to scan I want to share the sabian symbols from the end of your article that work so well with your sun/moon waking/dreaming analogy:
Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 1 Taurus: A clear mountain stream. The pure uncontaminated, and spontaneous manifestation of one's true nature.

Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 1 Scorpio: A crowded sightseeing bus on a city street. The fundamental human eagerness to expand one's social horizon and to experience the results of collective achievements and new ways of life.

April 19, 2008 – Sun goes into Taurus, 9:51am Eastern, 12:51pm Pacific.

Thanks again
:hi:

3. Great article
We are all Scorpio and Taurus suns in my house, so I'm familiar with this energy. Here's the quote I liked best from the article:

"Transform your shadow feelings into golden consciousness and step into the world."

My new mantra for Spring!

5. How about the earthquake?
We actually woke up here in Tennessee from the earthquake in Illinois. My husband realized what it was at the time but I just rolled over and went back to sleep, thinking he was being exceptionally noisy on the stairs.

When I found out it was an earthquake this morning, the full moon was the first thing I thought about.

6. My husband awoke this morning complaining that he felt unrested...
since he awakened around 5:30 and wasn't able to get back to sleep for a while. We then heard about the earthquake, and I immediately went to check what time it happened. The report said that it occurred at 4:30, but it was actually 5:30 here in Western Pennsylvania, which is pretty far from the epicenter. My husband is extremely sensitive to energy, but I find it amazing that he was able to sense this that far away. (Or else it was an amazing coincidence since he almost never has problems with awakening in the middle of the night.)

7. yes, he must really be sensitive
There is a woman who predicts earthquakes by which part of her body hurts. It is as if her meridians are connected to the earth's meridians. She has figured out which part of her body is connected to each part of the world. She gets a feeling about two weeks before the quake. However, I do think they have to be over 6.0 or something...............

I didn't feel that great the day before the earthquake, but I thought it was because I ate a big blueberry muffin (hey, it was there--what was I supposed to do, let it go to waste?) Maybe it was a pre-quake thing, though.

8. I woke up at 4:30
and stayed up for a couple of hours. I didn't have to go to work. My leg was aching, but that's not completely unusual. Not sure if there could be a connection. It was a rough night and I have been sleeping well and did so last night also.

9. I live in Illinois and we all slept thru it except for the cat.
Hubby woke up when Chaucer D. Cat came boiling into bed and burrowed under the covers. I have been pretty medicated of late and you could probably drive a train thru the bedroom and I'd miss it. I did feel the aftershocks yesterday, however.

To tell you the truth I'm wondering if maybe it isn't done yet. Chaucer has been a real basket case all morning roaming around the house and doing that low sort of howling meow he does when I accuse him of getting "lost" in the hallway. I've been feeling a bit off too--I can't describe it very well, but it's like that "feeling" just before your ear pops--you are just waiting on it to happen.

Could just be I'm worrying too...

10. I feel better since the earthquake
Usually something like eating a blueberry muffin doesn't make me have chills and want to sleep 24/7. I was really "off" Wednesday and Thursday. The earthquake itself was no big deal. Most people here just thought it was one of those FedEx planes that didn't have the noise reduction package on the engine.

I never have thought of myself as being earthquake sensitive, but I have only felt a couple of them in my lifetime so I don't have a lot of data. Well, certainly I am NOT like the woman who has symptoms wherever in the world that there is an earthquake.

Cats are very energetically attuned (dogs, too). Could be that Chaucer and you are playing off each other's energies right now. Jim Berkland uses "lost pet" notices to predict earthquakes.

Just think how much energy was released in that earthquake--people felt it from Wisconsin to Georgia! Wish we could harness that and put it into electricity.

11. Talk about dogs being attuned!
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 01:29 PM by davsand
I have a good friend that lives just three doors down. Her daughter and mine are the same age and we all run back and forth a lot. Anyhow, she has three dogs that we hang with and help her with sometimes (We do "puppy detail" every day after school because they are both gone all day. We go down and play with the dogs and let them out.)

The dogs have been AT THE DOOR for the last few days. This is not just the usual "yep, somebody is here to see me" sort of stuff, but more a matter of the dogs want OUT of that house. Diane was telling me that a few minutes before the earthquake hit the dogs were throwing an absolute fit and literally pawing at the doors.

That is SO not like them...

I know that in places where there is a natural disaster the animals usually do give a warning. I even remember reading about the tsunami a couple of years ago and how so many of the animals ran to higher ground in advance--so it isn't just volcanic or earthquake activity they sense.

I do hope we are all just on edge rather than sensing anything new...
