What's happened to this forum?
No predictions? No fun? It doesn't seem like the same place.

2. Indeed.....
Conversation and fruitful discussion regarding any candidate prediction has been silenced by the road-rage gang with their automatic weapons.....slaughter the discussion; take no prisoners. It's worse than book burning.

4. What a huge bummer this Dem primary has been here on DU!
Especially in GDP, but even in this forum, this primary has really disappointed me in 'enlightening' how so many people really think and feel and tolerate no other preferences, views, and feelings!

:-(

3. The majority of DU backs Obama. Many Clinton supporters
used to post their predictions here. It created discord and now no one wants to bring GDP in here. Here's my prediction. It won''t turn out the way many people think. :) See one way or another that prediction will be right.

Things should get back to normal when the primaries are over. :hi:

5. I predict you are right
On both counts--

1. Expectations never seem to work out.
2. Yes, normalcy returns when there is a candidate.

6. Unfortunately, no dissent is tolerated.
If you don't agree with the status quo, you are banned, and before you are banned you are subjected to unbelievable, vile, hateful and mean-spirited attacks by people you even thought were friends. They will even PM you and tell you what to do. So, what can you do? I'm finding other places. This board has become dead to me.

8. We're allowed to dissent
no one is the boss of this group except Skinner. And really unless the mods or Skinner are PM'ing you, you still have the right to support your candidate and make your predictions.

I sincerely hope that we can all work through this. I think the candidate who opposes your's will win and I may be as wrong as the day is long.

Also, I am dissappointed that you don't like my candidate or see him winning ;) but I'll vote for the dem candidate whoever they are.

I'm certainly not mad at the supporters of the candidates, please try and stick around and be patient, this can't last forever, right?

9. I was speaking from my own experience and what happened to me.
And I still see it as "not allowed to dissent" regardless. I have tried to visualize it another way, I really have.

12. I see,
I am thinking that no matter what, we are all a valuable part of this community. I know that others can be unkind but I just try not to take it personally as I know that I've been a bit snarky at times myself.

We all want what's best for the nation, all of us and we just disagree about who would or will serve that best.

We'll be allright, just take a deep breath and know that there will be a time for pulling together again. Right now we just aren't there yet.

18. I'm sorry you had that sort of experience here.
Under usual circumstances, it is a very friendly place.

Hope the forum reincarnates for you at some point.

Tensions have just been "berserk-oid."

It'll pass.

Peace.

Always enjoy your contributions though.

10. Not so dead, it seems, because here you are.
We are all responsible for our own participation in conflicts - however we perceive ourselves.

7. I, for one, still think this is the FUNNEST forum on DU.
GD|P is FULL of predictions (based on polls, articles, trends, opinion), and that's where they belong, even predictions that stem from a more esoteric source (such as ours). While Astrology and other arcane arts/sciences lend themselves to prediction (that's part of their function), our individual sensitivities make it hard to accept some predictions as uncolored by personal bias.

If we're going to discuss predictions critically in here, I do wish the discussion would be limited to the merits of the prediction (its source, its methods, etc) instead finger-pointing and name-calling when our opinions (and our predictions) vary.

I have stayed out of the political disagreements that have come up. I've been very disappointed that the conflict persists - even though this is not a forum for political discussion. Even in this thread, I see barbs and bared teeth.

I guess I've just stuck my nose in it - but this thread is a perfect example of conflict resuscitation: there should have been a DNR order on record.

11. Did you watch A New Earth last night?
Edited on Tue May-06-08 12:07 PM by votesomemore
It ran amazingly clean on my machine for some reason. It was great. Oprah was telling a story about a mean boss she had in the past. He was TERRIBLE. Eckhart jumped in quietly and pointed out that was the man's ego and pain body, not the real man. Oprah got it, but it made an interesting real life example.

We have to remember our center. I'm an energy reader and the energy in this thread is heavy.
Clear and balance. Everyone remember the shielding and protection reminders from last time.
Don't participate in the ego battles. No one wins. The ego is never satisfied.

14. Not last night - tonight or tomorrow I hope.
I just started reading the 10th chapter. I'm really curious to see how this venture will close - and glad to see that Oprah's going to continue on with the podcasts (Soul something-or-other).

Thinking of the painbody just reminded me of the "hungry ghost" my husband used to talk about when he was practicing zazen with a group. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungry_ghost There's a resonance there with Tolle's painbody/ego thesis.

13. Please consider lightening up folks.
Let's maybe keep our eyes on the prize.

That would be regaining some modicum of representative leadership.

helderheid is having fun anyhoo.

I'm about to call her a troublemaker in GD-P LOL

Though Metta often tries to tempt us all with them.

I m-m-must resist.

17. I can lighten up here on DU by taking a "Que sera" attitude....
because supporting one candidate over the other has everything to do with keeping an eye on the prize - restoring some democracy and good leadership in the world.

It has been nothing but horrendous being in the minority here on DU these weeks - certainly in GDP, and I don't mind people expressing their negative feelings and experiences here in this forum either.

Peace,

DemEx

Sheesh.

That's not to minimize at all how much we support each other in this forum for the most part.
