CDC will study Morgellons disease
I'm cross posting this from Health because this is one of those 'disease' which mainstream media has attributed to 'insanity' (delusional). It also seems like in the past I've seen it linked to mysterious causes. Causes are 'unknown', but maybe someone has an opinion. I can't find any backup for that right now, so I'll leave as is.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in conjunction with Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California Division of Research launched a study to learn about an unexplained skin condition known as Morgellons. Persons who suffer from this condition report a range of symptoms including non-healing skin lesions associated with the emergence of fibers or solid material from the skin, abnormal skin sensations (such as stinging and biting or pins and needles) and non-cutaneous symptoms such as difficulty concentrating and short-term memory loss. Researchers hope to learn more about who might be affected, what symptoms they experience, and factors that may contribute to their illness.

"We earnestly want to learn more about this unexplained illness which impacts the lives of those who suffer from it," said Dr. Michele Pearson, principal investigator leading the study for CDC. "Those who suffer have questions, and we want to help them."

CDC will identify patients in Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California Health Plan to enroll in the study. The Kaiser Permanente Division of Research was awarded a $338,000 contract to assist CDC in this investigation because of the organization’s location in a geographic area where self-reported cases are concentrated, the size of the patient population to draw from (Kaiser Permanente covers approximately 30 percent of the Northern California population), and its ability to systematically identify Kaiser Permanente patients who may have this unexplained illness.

Persons who suffer from this condition report a range of coetaneous symptoms including crawling, biting and stinging sensations; granules, threads or black speck-like materials on or beneath the skin; and/or skin lesions (e.g., rashes or sores) and some sufferers also report systemic manifestations such as fatigue, mental confusion, short term memory loss, joint pain, and changes in vision"

1. I'm really happy to hear this. It is such a mystery...
and it's really sad that these people are being told that it's all in their heads. I can't imagine living with this; people have committed suicide because of it. :(

There's been talk that it's related to genetically modified organisms/food:

Thanks for posting this here, vsm. I think that it's going to turn out to be yet another thing that Big Science at some point will "prove" so that it can then be viewed as "real". It's my understanding that it's not yet known for sure whether it's at all contagious.

3. A doctor in Oklahoma
took a specimen of the fibers to a crime lab. They said it is unknown to man. And it is the only thing they have ever seen that is completely heat resistant. Even high temps don't melt or burn them.
Very strange.

4. I agree about the strange part. The woman who set up the foundation...
was from my area, so I'm a bit familiar with some of the weird details. I feel so bad for what the sufferers of this disease have to go through -- especially, the skepticism that they get from the "Science is God" crowd. (I have a great respect for science, but I really resent those who refuse to consider that there are many things in reality that science has not yet figured out. It doesn't make them any less real. :()

2. Whoa!
Thanks for posting this, Votes.

I just worry that the CDC might just be agreeing to an investigation/study so that this agency can, "in all good conscience confirm" that the claims were, "in fact, psychosomatic". After all, they have never investigated this phenomenon.

All federal agencies are still under the Bush Admin, after all.

Still, I am beginning to get my hopes up.

Thanks again, Votes.

5. I'm hoping it won't go away because
of where the trail may lead. I haven't researched this much. Heard about it connected to chemtrails some time ago. Now I find this >

Further disturbing is research that I have found being conducted by the National Textile Center. Their goal is as follows:

“To develop fabrics that contain micro-fabricated bio-environments and biologically activated fibers. These fabrics will have genetically engineered bacteria or mammalian cells incorporated into them, that will enable them to generate and replenish chemical coatings and chemically active components”.(8)

What does this mean? They want to make drug-producing bandages, clothing that has genetically engineered bacteria on it that eats away a person’s body odor, and even clothing that cleans itself by way of regenerating dust and water repellent.

This is aptly referred to as biologically active fibers and micro-environments. This is not something that is far off in the future either. Their annual report, dated November 2001, states:

“We have genetically engineered bacteria that allow for the non-invasive quantification of bacterial viability and function in fibers and fabrics. We are developing techniques for introducing and culturing these bacteria in select hollow fibers”.

Hmm, sounds oddly familiar.

There is a LOT more speculation on this site. None of them good news. SOMETHING needs to be exposed.
