Which asteroids tend to be the most important in astrology charts?
Edited on Tue Dec-02-08 12:57 AM by Shallah
I want to do my chart using astrodienst and I see the option to add extra asteroids beyond the list here - Pars Fortunae, Vertex, Lilith, Chiron, Ceres, Pallas, Juno, Vesta, Eris, Pholus, Nessus, Ixion, Orcus, Quaoar, Sedna, Varuna. I am especially interested in the ones that indicate a tendency towards psychological issues like Chiron does. I am in the midst of clearing a lot of old stuff, a lot of shadow stuff, and it would be very fascinating to see if astrology could point me to anything I am missing. A friend did a chart years ago but I must have given her a wrong time because when I did a one without the asteroids yesterday I got a different rising sign which I think reflects me much better than the other. While I know others have gotten wonderful insights from astrology I never fully related to my chart and gave up on learning more back then. Now I am curious and will be exercising my google fu to see if this new chart is a Goldilocks for me or not.

2. Oh, man. Asteroids can make your interp of your natal chart dizzyingly complicated.
If you're working on shadow stuff, I'd check out the placement of your Lilith (the one symbolized by the half-moon glyph in the chart pic) first.

I thought I had at least the basic symbols still in memory but boy do I feel ignorant now! I can't find my one astrology book so to google I go until I can hit the library. I probably shouldn't even be touching asteroids just yet when I still am a newbie to astrology and am already dizzy!

Thanks for the info. Now i need to find a key for all the little wee symbol squiggles on my chart. I know the square symbol is a square aspect and indicates difficultly and trines are good but what the symbol is and everything else is has me  hee!

5. I'm tempted to tell you to just back slowly away from the vehicle, here.
I don't think understanding of asteroids and hypothetical bodies is possible until you've mastered the basics of your own chart and forecast. I also doubt that getting into them now is going to do much for you. And I'm sure there are those astrology buffs here who don't think it's ever going to do much for anyone, because asteroids, etc., aren't that significant in the grand scheme of things.

6. Until I started going over the chart I didn't realize how much I had forgotten :(
I thought I might as well get the asteroids on there as I would want to understand what tendencies they indicate as my understanding is they are a bit more specific and focused in effect even if it is a much weaker effect than the traditional planets. Back when I started reading up on Goddesses & mythology I came across a really interesting book on asteroid Goddesses at the library so I always wanted to figure out where they were on my chart. I hope the library still has a copy so I can check it out soon.

Don't worry about my enthusiasm and tendency to want to jump to the end of the book. I know the stars incline they do not force and I won't use them as an excuse for misbehavior. It is just exciting to feel like this new chart clicks more than the one done for me years ago.

4. oh boy. How difficult is Pluto square Pluto transit?
I was skimming the data sheet that came with my chart and on the transits page it shows Pluto square symbol 6a Pluto. hm. here is something I googled - http://radiantwoman.wordpress.com/2007/01/30/what-is-pluto-square-pluto/

Maybe this is part of the reason I feel like I am in a place of pressing and potentially explosive transformation. So far I am able to go with the flow and hope it continues that way!
