So much happening in March! There’s Mars passing over the degree of the August 16, 2008 lunar eclipse on the 7th and aligning with Neptune the following day, the Venus station on the 8th and the Sun-Saturn opposition a couple days later, Venus’ inferior conjunction with the Sun on the 27th and Mercury’s superior conjunction with Sol on the 31st . . . not to mention that Pluto is within about a quarter degree of its April 4 retrograde station throughout March, and Mars within a few degrees of its April 5 opposition to Saturn as March draws to a close.
All in all, March looks a bit easier than February in many respects. A glimmer of hope in the midst of a global financial meltdown, maybe the start of a realization that this is as fundamental a transition in the economic life of humanity as the Industrial Revolution was: hugely disruptive while we’re going through it, but the foundation of a transformed civilization when all the dust settles. The turbulence is years from abating, as I’ve written in my annual forecasts since 2005. But, with reference to my analogy of the soufflé settling, we’re coming out of one of the great settlings (last month’s Saturn-Uranus opposition). Now the collapse by degrees should ease for a time, as the March-April bear market rally reflects a temporary change in mass psychology. Use this time to prepare for the next shock to the global financial system, due possibly as early as late July and certainly by early October – probably around mid-September, when the third in the 2008-2010 series of five Saturn-Uranus oppositions takes place.
February’s collapse in the equity markets was plainly foretold in last month’s forecast: "Panic in the markets, panic in the streets, people in need of rescue, just a whiff of revolution in the air . . . that’s what this alignment is all about . . . I always caution clients not to make a fetish of exact aspect dates as event timers, and so I won’t pin the February market blow-off on the date of the February 5 exact Saturn-Uranus opposition or the lunar eclipse on the 9th . . . in any case this isn’t the big smash-up of 2009, which is due in the fall. But it’s a time to get out of the way of the charging bear before it’s too late, I suspect. I’m not a financial adviser, so I won’t presume to tell anyone what to do. I know what I’ll do, though: get out of the way. There’s time to jump back in later, in the sense that another bear market rally is due from March-April until sometime this summer." Now that March is here, I believe the bottom (for now) is near – perhaps already behind us, but I don’t think so....cont'd

We are all more than ready for a change, and the entry of the Sun into fire sign Aries, gives each of us more energy and courage to conquer obstacles and make decisions.
As the Sun spends most of the month in Pisces, joined by Mercury and Mars, none of us is going to have a boring time. Years ago, my young daughter told me that she had noticed a "Pisces in Crisis effect". She got that right. Since chaos and crisis are the mother of creativity, we will have opportunities for both this month. Since Pisces is the last of the water signs, and the 12th sign in the Zodiac, it represents an ending before beginning again on March 20 with the Spring Equinox. As we all learn to embrace the uncertainty of our times, it is our connections with others, our practice of spiritual optimism, and our self care habits that will get us through these challenging times.
The Moon is full on 3/10, which always brings life out in the open with excitement and movement. The Moon is New in Aries on 3/26 which is a strong spark of determination for each of us. On 3/6 Venus moves backward till 4/17, which should send the stock market down further, and provide more bad financial news, but usually that will be the bottom of the cycle, so we have 6 more weeks before some improvement is seen. Those ruled by the planet Venus, Libra and Taurus, and those with Aries planets will be most affected by this pattern. It is never a good idea to change your appearance during this time, or spend money impulsively, or get cosmetic surgery. This is a time to practice frugality, self acceptance and making time for self care and connection with those who love us.
As always, we begin our look at the planetary patterns by looking at the movement of Mercury, the mental messenger. Mercury begins the month in Aquarius, joining Mars on 3/1. Some people find themselves losing their temper with this aspect, as many situations and people are exceedingly frustrating. This is a day to take it easy and breathe deeply and avoid those people and situations that drive you crazy. On 3/5 Mercury joins with Neptune in Aquarius, which is a very creative pattern for new ideas, problem solving or time alone in contemplation. On 3/8 Mercury moves into Pisces, changing the source of mental energy from air to water. This will make us all more intuitive and feeling and a bit more introverted. On 3/18 Mercury moves into an opposition with Saturn, which often causes so much reality that it leads to depression. This is temporary, however, as the pain of illusions vanishing gives way to the confidence of facing the facts and making a plan. On 3/22 Mercury joins Uranus for an aspect of mental genius and brilliant ideas. This is a great time to get together with others for interesting conversation. On 3/25 Mercury enters decisive Aries, which also brings about the tendency to be bold and blunt in our dealings with others. If you want to know what is wrong in your life, wait till this time, and ask an Aries. They will love telling you what you didn't want to hear. On 3/27 Mercury and Pluto struggle a bit, and if you have planets in Gemini, Virgo, Aries, Scorpio and/or Capricorn, this may not be your best day this month. On 3/28, Mercury joins Venus, which is a peaceful, easy mental energy, and most welcome by all.
Venus spends the month in Aries, helping us to evaluate our personal needs. It makes no contact with other planets till 3/28 when it joins Venus. My take on this is that others can't fill our needs this month, so take note of what is out of order and make a plan.
Mars begins the month in Aquarius, which continues to energize those with planets in Aquarius and Leo, sometimes to frustration and anger. On 3/8 Mars joins with Neptune, producing an element of fear, paranoia and/or intense creative imagination. On 3/14 Mars enters Pisces, where it shows us where our neuroses live and how far we have come on our mental health journey. Those with problems get worse. Those who have grown significantly get tested.
The biggest pattern this month is called a fan handle. With 8 of the 10 planets joined together between Capricorn and Aries in a bundle, we are all in a fated time. As planets connect with the fan handle (Saturn in Virgo), events will occur which make us clearer about the direction to take. The Sun connects with Saturn on 3/8 (stronger for those with planets in Leo, Capricorn, Virgo and Pisces). Mercury connects with Saturn on 3/18 (stronger for those with planets in Pisces, Virgo, Gemini and Capricorn). The Moon connects with Saturn on 3/25 (stronger for those with planets in Cancer, Pisces and Capricorn). Again, I believe change is coming most prominently in April after Venus goes direct on 4/17 and Mars goes into Aries on 4/22. This is the fire energy of movement, decisiveness, courage and change.
