*Pics: of my Crystal Pendulum, Copper Dowsing Rod, and a Necklace* (dailup warning ?)

Top row is the crystal pendulums before I decided to make changes, and the necklace for my very special friend (Lapis, Carnelian, Amethyst, silver and black beads)

Crystal pendulum with crochet pouch, copper dowsing rod (of course it is longer than in the pic, the other end has a loop to hold in my hand), more pics of the necklace I made

My pendulum as it exists today. Maybe you read about my adventure I had with my decision to change it to its current incarnation. You can read about it here, if you missed it the first go around.

1. Beautiful!
I've never thought of changing my pendulum--now you've given me ideas....

Ever been to Mt. Ida AR? That's where you can dig your own crystals.

4. I have been to Mt Ida, but only one time
We used to go camping at Lake Ouachchita, lovely lake. So, one time we went to Mt. Ida. However, I don't think we went digging for any crystals, but I did buy some while there. I love the Ouachita area.

2. OMG MM these are beautiful!
Really excellent work! I do like the cap you created to keep that escaping crystal in line for your pendulum!

My next project--figuring out what to do with some giant purple faceted beads. Mr. MG brought them home in necklace form from my favorite gem shop in New Orleans, but--ahem--I suspect they'd be more attractive integrated with other, less...um...imposing beads and findings. LOL I can't criticize him--he does his best--and he brought me a lovely huge pillowy amethyst heart with beautiful inclusions as well...

6. The cap has worked out really well, I even took the chance and have slept with it on
So far so good. I do :loveya: my new necklace, it only comes off now whenever I take a bath or shower.

I hear ya about large beads can be rather difficult sometimes to work into projects. Depending how big it is perhaps you could use it as a focal bead in a drop Y necklace with the Heart being the ending piece. That image just crossed my mind while reading your post.

The Lapis beads took me a while to figure out how to best use them, they are a strange shape. Once my funds start growing I NEED to purchase more beads.

Thank you for the kind words.

9. I'm bad with mm measurements and I don't have a caliper handy ;)
So I can't say exactly how large these purple beads are, but they are definitely on the huge side for beads. I saw a TV character (gods help me I can't recall what show--maybe Greek?) wearing a necklace that I liked and I think it might work--a long one (like down to just above the navel), fine silver chain, with a few of these beads about six or seven inches apart (in between the sections of chain). I think that would make them less overwhelming and more appealing. Right now, all together separated by single knots in the bead thread (also purple), they're "too much", if you know what I mean. I'd just have to convince my husband that taking this necklace apart would be a GOOD thing and no commentary on his taste. Well, it kind of is ;) but I still appreciate his effort. So I'd have to tread carefully.

I LOVE Y necklaces; unfortunately the heart is the size of a small paperweight (and about as heavy). I have made some necklaces with large center pieces, but I don't wear them very often. This one would outdo them all by several ounces! I sure could see it with some silver wrap, though. A friend of mine is short but solid as a tree trunk (she's earth magic--go figure) and she would look great in something that big--in fact, she tends to wear ginormous jewelry on a regular basis. Me, not so much.

Still thinking...

I do love the unusual shape of the lapis beads! (And I love lapis! It's my default stone along with amethyst!) I'm always on the lookout for unusually shaped beads. Love 'em!

3. Absolutely gorgeous!
I wish that I had some artistic ability. :(

Next life maybe! :)

I am so impressed by your work, MagickMuffin. You have my absolute respect.

In high school, I had a class where we did similar things, and my results were quite disappointing. However, maybe I need to be less attached to outcome and just enjoy the creative process.

Thank you for sharing your works with us.

7. I do agree that the creative process can be trying
and that one must keep trying and learn to just go with the flow of the process and then accepting the outcome. I hope you will decide to find something that suits your creative desires, don't wait for your next lifetime, that could take a while.

Although when working on jewelry designs I find myself cursing when things aren't going well. But that is mostly when things start falling apart. I tend to start and then not liking the end results, taking it apart and reworking the designs.

Luckily the design for the necklace in my pic didn't cause me any problems what so ever. It came together with a tremendous ease.

I've found tiger-wire to be a difficult medium to work with, but I try my best to work through the difficulties.

Thank you for your overwhelming encouragement, it really means a lot to me
