Grandma'ma Syzygy here!
Please join me in celebrating the arrival of Simon Benjamin at 10:54 PM, April 25, 2009!

:bounce:

His dad was working at the USAF air show when mom went into labor. Looks as though he will follow in the footsteps of his great granddad, granddad and dad with aeronautical ambitions! At least on the day of his birth. ;)

2. Hey Grandma'ma,
Edited on Sun Apr-26-09 01:19 AM by MagickMuffin
Congratulations on the arrival of Simon, I'm sure he'll be bringing a large amount of love to the family.

This song came to mind!

Up, Up And Away

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon
Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon
We could float among the stars together, you and I
For we can fly we can fly
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon
The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky
For we can fly we can fly
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon
Suspended under a twilight canopy
We'll search the clouds for a star to guide us
If by some chance you find yourself loving me
We'll find a cloud to hide us
We'll keep the moon beside us
Love is waiting there in my beautiful balloon
Way up in the air in my beautiful balloon
If you'll hold my hand we'll chase your dream across the sky
For we can fly we can fly
Up, up and away
My beautiful, my beautiful balloon
Balloon...
Up, up, and away.....

:loveya:

This is so exciting! You will find that it is absolutely wonderful being a grandmother. You get to have fun with the little ones, with very little of the day-to-day worries that a parent has.

Hopefully, if you feel ok about it, you will post pics. New babies are so very yummy!

46. I lived for 8 years in the Pittsburgh area
During the very time that my first grandbabies were being born. I had moved there for a job, and, it lasted nearly 8 years.

Long story short -- I decided that I could not stand being away from my kids and grandkids anymore (all in the NYC metro area), and, it turns out that I was being laid off anyway, and there was my opening.

I am so grateful for moving back where they are, Why Syzygy.

Perhaps this will happen for you also. If not, I know some "grandmas" that know how to manipulate their families to come and visit THEM.

47. They usually make it to town
about 2-3 times a year. My son's dad still has flight benefits from American, so I'm plotting to get him to allow me one of them. About a year ago, Son was trying for a transfer to Italy because they "miss Europe"! So, I won't complain about NC! Ideal situation would be for him to come back to a base in TX. Her parents are in Finland, so it could be MUCH worse.

I'm glad your situation worked out so well

It's a pretty special feeling, isn't it? Son has been able to stay overnights in the maternity 'suite' (whatever), so they are sharing a special bonding experience. He is one of those who serve, and I refrain from thinking about when he has to go back down range in the fall. Keep hoping they will find him a function stateside.
