I'm baaaaack!
Hello ASAHers! MG Jr. and I are back from our yearly trip to visit my brother and fam California. Travels were safe, if irritating. (Alas that air travel has become like a glorified bus trip, with bag lunches, surly employees, and smelly toilets. I remember when it was a big deal and the airlines bent over backward to make you happy. Then again, I AM pretty old...!) Hanging with bro, SIL, and niece was fun--we went to the beach one day (aaaahhhhhh I could get used to that) and SIL and I--who are the family members who know how to blow money we don't have--are talking about renting a beach house for a few days next year. We also went to L.A. for an afternoon to take MG Jr. to the car museum (who looooved it) and we also got dinner at the famous Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Weird concept, AMAZING food. Go there if you can. Trust. ;)

Since we were traveling all day (and all night) yesterday, it was like we were in a bubble outside the influence of the eclipse. Very strange. So what'd I miss? Did anything major happen, or was it just another subtle event moving us toward 2012 (a subject near and dear to my heart as I frantically work on the article that's due soon). Do tell! :hi:

1. Good Morning ! .....and Welcome Back, Twin!
Well the Eclipse sure gave ME a run for MY money....lucky you, getting a vacay and a relief from reality! lol

(and I hope that the impending wallop that comes with residual waves is gentle and easily guided... ;) )

Here's the cliffs notes version of MY haps:
- relationship crossed a critical hurdle, and is getting better than ever (hmm, i guess that's possible when it's new and gushy like that! teehee...)
But the "understanding" factor and the evolutionary process in the exchange is so apparent it is really even more encouraging for us both. good stuff maynard!

- position at the Tahoe Daily Tribune that I used to "fill-in" for as a freelancer last couple years is open! (the lady retired last fall, they made one of the photographers "absorb" the job, then they had massive layoffs and lost everyone that KNEW anything...and now they are advertising!!!) so I am dusting off my resume to see what unfolds. I *just* got the paper yesterday as it was sitting on the chair waiting for me at the kids' swim lessons...hardly even read the damn rag anymore. decided to look at the classifieds just to see if there were any indicators the economy was turning for real...and there it was! BTW...I do believe it was the afternoon hours that I sat down in my room to read the paper, perhaps even at the eclipse moments too! kewl

- The winds of change are blowing strong today...we went form 80-90 degree weather to 50 today and wondy for the past 3 days...crazy! It feels like Fall is right HERE - i can only hope it fakes us out and we get our indian summer back.

there's more, but I haven't had enough coffee to figure it all out yet! lol

so here we GOOOOOOO...are you ready?

4. No WAY!
Are you two "back on"? LOL I knew that was going to happen but I didn't think it would happen so quickly! Did he see the error of his ways and come back with his tail between his legs?

Ooooh good luck with the Trib job! Sending white light for that!

Cool and breezy here as well, although the sun is warm (inside the house it's cold--or maybe I'm just adjusting to non-triple digit weather!

I THINK I'm ready. Here we goooooooo indeed! (Insert rollercoaster scream here!)

2. Welcome back, MG!
It sounds as though you had a really good time!

I'm glad that you're back in the fold full-time. Thanks for checking in while you were away.

I agree with you about the steady decline of airplane travel. It's very sad...

I don't know what, if anything, you missed. I feel as though I've been in my own little bubble.

:hi:

3. What a good time!

I have always wanted to vacation in California (and no, the two hours I spent in LAX last January don't count, LOL). It is wonderful you got to visit a neet place and visit with people you love at the same time. Air travel is like being herded these days, we are all just cattle getting on the truck!

I only have a personal take on stuff lately. Something felt very weird to me yesterday and today. I am tense today and having some sudden personal revelations. And got into an argument on Facebook with some righties, LOL (easier to argue with than DUers because they don't make information a part of their cerebral diet). Last night I got totally hyper in spouting my take on everything under the sun to my husband and a friend, maybe eclipse related? I hadn't thought of that. It seems like I just get information overload and stuff comes together in my mind and spews out. And that without watching the news, or reading it, for nearly two weeks.

Weather here is very strange. Tuesday saw nasty storms with flooding in some areas in Ky (poor Louisville got 6 inches in one storm and Churchill Downs was flooded), and today it is too cool to sit outside in the shade, I had to find some direct sun when I went out to "warm up" at lunch, LOL! I feel like I should be getting ready for some SEC football with this fall-like weather today. Normally these are the dreaded "dog days" with heat and humidity out the wazoo and wishing for a rain shower.

6. ROFL LAX is its own planet
Yes, I strongly recommend checking out other parts of California besides the airport!

Interesting eclipse effect! Seems to have loosened your tongue. Good for you that you are able to argue intelligently. I always tend to lose the thread and start spouting gibberish when I'm up against it.

This whole summer has been weird, weather-wise. Major gardening fail--NOTHING grew except a few beans. :(

8. Thanks!
:hi:

My brother lives inland, so it was viciously hot. I took their dog for a walk at 10 a.m. and thought I was walking in a giant oven! Still, the sun was nice, and MG Jr. had fun mucking about with the hose nearly every day, "helping" my SIL water the plants but getting soaked himself (of course!) Now we're back home and it's cool and humid and cloudy--I had my hoodie on this evening and Mr. MG thought I was insane--but it's so much of a change!

9. Ooooh, a hoodie on...I'm jealous!
More of the whole 24/7 oven thing here; I just assumed it would be the cool California weather you were enjoying because right now it's the stuff of most of my fantasies. We are in triple digits every day with no rain in sight. I even just like hearing about cool weather! Gives me hope. :) I'm so glad you had fun even in the heat, and your day at the beach sounds lovely. I hope you can rent that cottage at the beach next year!

10. It's nice to be back Home
I have a friend who keeps insisting that I move out to Cali. She has a place for us, however, it's very difficult to do with all our kittie babies and family here and being severally in debt. It just isn't an option right now. And the fact it's in Orange County doesn't appeal to me. Now if she ever to move back to the San Fran area it would be more to my liking. I :loveya: that part of Cali a lot better.

I've been doing the usual surfing the web, and taking care of my 7 kitties and one hubby who has been trying to keep a new client happy, but they are NOT professionals and are running him ragged. But he is going to make a small mint off their stupidity.

I have also been reading up on trying to increase my psychic energies. Pretty good results so far, and the exercises are not difficult at all, which is a big plus. I've started writing them to my Journler software program to have them readily accessible. Also trying to work on my Sanctum (which isn't going along as fast as I want :o but that is mainly due to hubby) I have made some major progress though.

Good Luck with your 2012 article, I can't wait to read it, so get cracking :D

11. Oooh Orange County--verrrrry posh
My niece attends UC Irvine, so we flew into the OC airport this trip. Saw a Lamborghini on the road shortly after we arrived--tried to get a closer look, but SIL's Toyota SUV hybrid couldn't quite catch it. Can't imagine why. ;)

But I agree with you. I love, love, love San Francisco. Southern California...er...less so. Although SoCal has its funky enclaves as well, of course.

Cheers to your hubby for making hay while the client dithers! It's a beautiful thing if he can keep his head (whenever I get a client like that, I end up perpetually on the verge of losing it with them! )

Cool about increasing your psychic energies. Are you following a particular book's exercises? If so, can you share the name?

LOL thanks for the kick in the tush for the 2012 article. I really DO have to get cracking!!! (Yeahhh that's why I'm on DU....er...!)

13. Ventura is as far as we went back in 94
She used to live in San Fran. She decided it was too cold for her and so she and hubby moved further south (big mistake, they ended up divorcing she got to stay in the house but she can't sell it for 5 years at the time of divorce) now she would like to move back to San Fran.

I love Northern Cali, when we went to my friends wedding in 93 after the wedding we rented a car and drove up the coast to Seattle, had a friend who moved there. I feel very at home in the PNW.

Yeah, this client came outta the blue and needed help it was only suppose to be a weekend job, it turned into a couple months. They just didn't know what they were doing and there are to many chiefs, and the head chief is NO chief. He thinks he is but he isn't

The books I'm reading currently are by Joseph J. Weed: "Psychic Energy; How to Change Desires into Realities" (I think "The Secret" might have stole some of these techniques, I can't be sure since I haven't read it) and "How You Can Predict the Future: Complete Guide to Oracle and Prophecy Methods" I'm really wanting to read his book "Wisdom of the Mystic Masters" hopefully I'm getting it for my upcoming birthday next month. I thought I had a copy but cannot locate it, so who knows. If I get one for my birthday and then find that copy I'll have a spare to give to someone who might want it.

12. Yes, if I could live anywhere in the world, it would be around San Francisco.
I really feel at home there. (Almost as though I lived there at one time.)

:)

14. I know what you mean Northern Cali and the PNW are so inviting
In 98 we went to Vancouver and surrounding territories spent a month there. I would really :loveya: to move there, but Canada has some tough restrictions on Immigration. Vancouver Island is a wonderful exotic Island. We spent a lot of time exploring the different island between Vancouver Island and the mainland. Now I'm getting "homesick" :(

Of course I'd still settle living anywhere from San Fran northward. Beautiful landscape and the culture ain't bad either.

I also REALLY feel at home on the West Coast.
