Anyone good with dream interpretation want to take a whack at this one? Poem form.
Highway Store

In my dreams the darkness stalking
Empty streets down which I’m walking
A soupy fog of a future sings to me

A stretching highway in the distance
Abandoned toll booths
A highway store
Still open,
Serving burgers, selling coffee
And more

Way station before the road
Leading somewhere black
Ominous destinations
Several cars moving slowly
Weary travelers
Roaming blindly down the strip

Comfort here, but fleeting
Coffee is bad, burgers burnt
Man at the counter incapable of smiles
He takes my coins
TV takes his eyes
I wish myself a good day
But only the road waits

We’ve left the last chance saloon
The burger joint is closed
No more cups of Joe at Joe’s
The Highway Store is in our mirror

Nothing to do but move on
To darker places than we’ve ever been
Ignoring the other drivers
Cutting off one or two
Maybe even hitting a walker
If it cuts the time a bit
To make the next rest stop

But it’s not coming
And we don’t know where we’re going
Only that the tank is nearly empty
-S

1. This may seem simplistic
but upon first cursory read, it's a matter of nurture versus superficial transience.

ps Venus just passed the middle of Cancer. Dunno when you had the dream.

Be well.

2. It is a recurring setting and theme in my dreams.
All very dreary and grey. Not a black and white dream, just everything seems so old and abandoned.

3. Nice poetry but the
imagery is pretty common, a variation on coming to the crossroads, where you have to make a decision on which direction to go in to fill your tank.

4. Yeah, I can see that. Sometimes I'm just too close to my own stuff.
Need a little help seeing the forest for the trees if you will. Thanks. :hi:

5. Doesn't sound like a very positive dream, more of a warning.
If it were mine, I'd think about what I did the day before or was planning to do that day in terms of putting my life energy into something. It sounds like a road you've been going down for some time and you are unsure about it now and are seeing at a dream level that you're not going to get much by continuing to pursue it, whatever it is.

Remember though, a dream in most cases is just a snapshot of a phase of life, not the whole life.

You'll have to make the assns yourself. It's possible also that you could have been thinking about some avenue being pursued by others (or the country) and your dream gave you a picture of the outcome of that pursuit. That is, it might not be something you yourself are pursuing.

In either case, tho, it would be something you have thought about and were likely thinking about at the time of the dream.

Best I can do. If it rings a bell, use it. If not, delete and return to original screen.

Good luck.

6. You might be interested in Robert Monroe's books
starting with Journeys Out of the Body. Maybe this recurring dream is astral travel.
