'Counterknowledge' - anyone read the blog?
They had a short interview with the originator, Damian Thompson, on BBC Radio 4 today. Although he write for the Daily Telegraph (a RW paper), and is Catholic (he admitted that does cause problems for his 'standard of evidence', but said that basically he doesn't claim that the laws of physics get violated, and he lives his main life trying to apply scientific standards of evidence and likelihood), he did sound quite interesting. He's bringing a book out - " Counterknowledge: How We Surrendered to Conspiracy Theories, Quack Medicine, Bogus Science and Fake History" - hence the BBC interview, and that basically sums up what the blog is about. He's not afraid to criticise his own paper - see eg http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/ukcorrespondents/holysmoke/november07/medicalcounterknowledge.htm - and he praises and links to Ben Goldacre, his counterpart on the (left wing) Guardian, so it looks as if there isn't an appreciable political bias in his writing on the subject.

The blog is at http://counterknowledge.com/ .
