Minot 91st Space Wing passes inspection

MINOT, N.D. — The commander of the Minot Air Force Base’s 91st Space Wing is pleased with the wing’s latest inspection.

Col. Marty Whelan says the nuclear surety inspection was finished this week, and the inspectors found the space wing is ready to carry out its mission.

The Minot space wing oversees 150 Minuteman III missiles in northwest and north central North Dakota.

Nuclear-capable units at the Minot base goes through a nuclear surety inspection about every 18 months.

The nuclear surety inspection for the Minot base’s 5th Bomb Wing has been delayed while airmen get more training, after B-52 mistakenly flew across the country armed with nuclear missiles.
