MINOT, N.D. — The Minot Air Force Base reports a $370.7 million economic impact on the local economy in fiscal 2007.

The total was down from $380.5 million in 2006, mainly because of construction, said Maj. Jack L. Nemceff III, the commander of the base’s 5th Comptroller Squadron. He said construction was down 20 percent from fiscal 2006, though the payroll was higher.

The report says the base has 4,533 active-duty members, including 12 Air Force Reserve members. It also reports 5,414 dependents of active-duty military members, and 1,212 civilians working at the base, for a total population of 11,159.

Of the total, 6,021 military members and their dependents live off the base.

The total base annual payroll is more than $236 million, about $11 million higher than in fiscal year 2006, the report said. That amount includes more than $192 million for military personnel, $151,110 for Air Force Reserve, and $44,234,607 for civilian payroll.
