AAFES still working to fix gas-pricing errorBy Matt Millham, Stars and Stripes

Two days after admitting it overcharged customers for fuel last year, the AAFES was still figuring out Friday how to correct the problem.Army and Air Force Exchange Service officials announced a plan Wednesday to reduce fuel prices by a penny a gallon until customers were compensated for the pricing error. However, it was not settled Friday whether that would be the case.
While AAFES officials were deciding how to fix the problem, the announcement of next week’s fuel price changes was delayed. New prices are typically released Thursdays and go into effect each Saturday. Prices were announced late Friday — about six hours before they were to go into effect.
An AAFES release announcing the new prices didn’t say any price fix had been factored in. Instead, it said the prices were “based on the current weekly U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) average price plus incremental costs associated with providing gasoline overseas.”
In Germany, prices for gasoline are down between 4.2 and 4.5 cents a gallon. Diesel is down 10 cents. In the Netherlands, prices drop 7 cents a gallon for midgrade, and 8.1 cents for premium and diesel.
