O-4 LDOs get more time to prepare for boards

The Navy is giving extra time to the active and Reserve limited-duty officers who are up for promotion to commander in fiscal 2009.

The service added additional lieutenant commander LDOs to the fiscal 2009 list of eligible officers, and officials wanted to give those officers time to make sure their records are up to date, said Lt. Cmdr. William Marks, a spokesman for the chief of naval personnel. The Navy recently issued an administrative message about the change.

The regular O-5 active duty line board commenced Feb. 12, and the Reserve board is set to begin its work March 11. The LDO boards are now slated for April 8 for active-duty personnel and April 29 for Navy Reserve officers.

“We don’t want to disadvantage anyone,” Marks said of the schedule change.
