When U.S. soldiers responded to several tips about a suspicious vehicle on an Iraqi street, they found it wasn’t exactly “dealer standard.”

The car, found in Bayaa, was packed with four fully-assembled explosively formed penetrator bombs; 10 8-inch-wide copper plates for use with EFPs; a complete mortar system; and a sniper rifle.

The car also held a rocket-propelled grenade and 10 RPG boosters; nine hand grenades; 19 blocks of C-4 explosives; 1,000 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition; an AK-47; three passports; a bag of homemade explosives and various bomb-making compounds.

Soldiers from Company D, 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division made the discovery Tuesday after receiving “numerous” tips about the vehicle, officials said Thursday.

“We continue to act on the numerous tips from Iraqis who are concerned about the ongoing violence in the area,” Maj. Kirk Luedeke, Task Force Dragon spokesman, said in a statement released Thursday.
