GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Friends and family are mourning a Nevada soldier and his wife who were fatally shot March 1 in their home near Tacoma, Wash.

Ivette Davila, a soldier at Fort Lewis, Wash., has been charged with murder in the deaths of Army Sgt. Timothy Miller, 27, originally of Gardnerville, and his wife, Sgt. Randi Miller, 25, originally of Lowell, Mass.

Davila also has been charged with kidnapping the couple’s 6-month-old daughter, Kassidy. The infant was not harmed and is in the custody of Timothy Miller’s mother, Tami Gray, and his stepfather, Randy Gray.

Timothy Miller went straight into the military after graduating from Douglas High School in Minden in 1998.

“He was a good boy who wanted to serve his country, go into the military and make something of his life,” family friend Heather Keene told Gardnerville’s Record-Courier.
