Airman found dead in woods near Ramstein

An enlisted airman was found dead Sunday morning in woods outside the village of Mackenbach, Germany, near Ramstein Air Base, according to a base spokeswoman.

The airman first class was reported missing by his wife at an undisclosed time, said Darlene Cowsert, a Ramstein spokeswoman. German police and Air Force Security Forces airmen took part in the search for the airman.

Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of death, Cowsert said. The condition of the body was not disclosed, as the incident is still under investigation, she said.
