Soldier dies in Baghdad roadside bombing

BAGHDAD — The military says a soldier has been killed in a roadside bombing in Baghdad.

A statement says Tuesday’s blast struck the Multi-National Division-Baghdad soldier’s vehicle about 12:30 p.m. in a northeastern section of the Iraqi capital.

U.S. and Iraqi troops have been fighting Shiite militants in the area.

Earlier, the military had said a soldier died from wounds sustained when his vehicle was destroyed in a late Monday night roadside bombing.

At least 12 American troop deaths have been reported since Sunday.
