Pentagon Plays Down Iran War-planning
Pentagon Plays Down Iran War-planning
May 01, 2008
Agence France-Presse

Despite a loud rattling of sabers over Iran in Iraq, the U.S. military has not embarked on new planning for war, its chief spokesman said Wednesday.

"I just want to be abundantly clear that there are no new directives, there are no new plans in the works, there is no new effort to prepare for a possible war with Iran," Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said.

Speaking to reporters traveling with US Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Morrell acknowledged that the Pentagon has contingency plans and "we update them for every possibility."

"But to characterize what is going on now as a new war planning effort against Iran would be wrong," he said.

"There is nothing going on with regards to Iran beyond what we would normally do to update our plans for contingencies with almost any country that poses a threat," he said.

3. the Reps and Senators are in denial, they feel like this regime
will not carry out yet another pre emptive attack esp. on Iran, or will they (our Reps and Senators) say something like Bush cannot stage an attack without our consent, and we all know how * and cheney feel that they are above the law. Let's experiment let's make our calls to our Reps and Senators and see what their staff workers will say, such as Senator So and So, is aware of the situation and has said the President must come to Congress first.

Our talking points should be how Petreaus is being considered for CENTCOM and he in no unspeakable terms has said Iran this and Iran that.

if you could think of other questions that would be helpful too.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=3289865&mesg_id=3289865

Now who is lying??????? they very well know what they are doing and it's not good.

here's a snip:

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Tuesday that sending a second U.S. aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf could serve as a "reminder" to Iran, but he said it's not an escalation of force.

Gates is another bushie loyalist.
