WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Family and friends of a Michigan soldier missing since his unit was attacked in Iraq by insurgent forces a year ago are planning a rally Saturday.

Pvt. Byron W. Fouty of Waterford Township and Sgt. Alex R. Jimenez of Lawrence, Mass., were seized a year ago Monday when insurgents attacked and overran a checkpoint in a volatile area south of Baghdad.

The rally in the Detroit suburb of Waterford Township will feature a swing band, F-16 flyovers and a Chinook helicopter landing.

Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr. was also captured during the raid, but his body was found May 23 floating in the Euphrates River.
