OKLAHOMA CITY — A woman whose ex-husband killed their two children before fatally shooting himself is considering civil action against the Air Force for allegedly doing nothing when she complained about his erratic, violent behavior, according to a published report.

Air Force Tech. Sgt. Dustin Thorson, 35, shot his 4-year-old son, Dylan, and 9-year-old daughter, Jourdain, on Feb. 25 at a house on Tinker Air Force Base. Thorson, 35, had just finished tussling with his ex-wife, Michelle, who had come to the house to care for the children as part of an agreement that they would leave the children at the residence and rotate who would stay with them, authorities said.

Dustin Thorson was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder last year after returning from Iraq, according to records reviewed by The Oklahoman for a copyright story.

Thorson “filed numerous reports ... against his ex-wife, which were reported to be unfounded, as well as displaying signs of paranoia by purchasing security systems, with small cameras, and installing them inside the residence,” the records stated.

“Do I believe that more could have been done to protect us? Yes,” Michelle Thorson told the newspaper in an e-mail.
