Air Force asks your help in naming tanker

Are you looking to earn a footnote in Air Force history?

An airman could get credit for naming the Air Force’s new tanker by entering the service’s name-the-tanker contest.

Officially, the tanker is designated the KC-45, but the tanker doesn’t have a name to go along with the designation like the KC-135 Stratotanker or KC-10 Extender.

Airmen and Air Force civilians have until May 30 to submit their entries by sending an e-mail to [e-mail].

Contest rules require that suggested names be no more than two short words. You must also explain why you picked the entry and provide your name, rank, contact information and duty station. Government civilians must identify their office and position.

While you’re welcome to suggest the plane be named after your mother or favorite chief, the Air Force is more likely to choose a name with an Air Force bearing.
