NEW CASTLE, Del. — The Delaware National Guard is scheduled Tuesday to host a signing ceremony to mark the commitment of federal money for the Guard’s new headquarters.

The Guard will share the new $42 million facility with the Naval Reserve.

Construction is expected to begin in 2010.

Delaware National Guard commander Maj. Gen. Frank Vavala says the project will boost the economy by bringing millions of federal dollars into Delaware.

The Delaware Army and Air National Guards currently share headquarters space in a former elementary school in Pike Creek.
