LINCOLN, Neb. — A Lexington man fell ill while training with the Nebraska National Guard and later died at a hospital.

The guard identified the man as Pvt. James Treacle, a member of Lexington’s Detachment 1, 1195th Transportation Company. The 24-year-old died Friday afternoon at an Omaha hospital.

His death is under investigation.

The guard says Treacle was part of the Recruit Sustainment Program, which prepares soldiers for basic training and advanced individual training. He fell ill while training at Camp Ashland and was taken to a Papillion hospital, then transferred to Bergan Mercy Medical Center.

Treacle is survived by his wife, Nicole, and two young daughters.
