Obama May Deploy Guard to Mexico Border
Obama May Deploy Guard to Mexico Border
March 13, 2009
American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON - As President Barack Obama considers deploying National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to control escalating violence, Arizona's governor has requested about 250 more National Guard troops on its border with Mexico, and the Texas governor is considering a similar action.

"We're going to examine whether, and if, National Guard deployments would make sense and in what circumstances they would make sense as part of this overall review of our border situation," Obama told reporters yesterday, according to media reports. The White House confirmed his comments, made during a media roundtable session.

"I haven't drawn any conclusions yet," Obama said. "I don't have a particular tipping point in mind."

While emphasizing that he does not want to "militarize" the border, Obama called it "unacceptable if you've got drug gangs crossing our borders and killing our citizens."

"I think if one U.S. citizen is killed because of foreign nationals who are engaging in violent crime, that's enough of a concern to do something about it," he said.

1. They've killed more than one!
I should hope he does something. It's our BORDER!

2. The Bushwhacks militarized Mexico with 'war on drugs' billions to privatize Mexico's oil.
I think what we are seeing is a deliberately stirred up drug gang war to justify more and more militarization in Mexico. Back in 2005, the Bushwhacks likely helped the rightwing president Felipe Calderon to steal that election (which leftist Lopez-Obrador lost by a hairsbreadth--0.05%--in a midnight electronic tabulation) on his promise to privatize Mexico's constitutionally protected oil resource. He has been having a hard time doing it. It is a VERY unpopular idea in Mexico. And if he does it by stealth or by fiat, there could well be serious civil unrest. The "war on drugs" militarization is primarily for dealing with that unrest. It is utterly laughable to presume that the Bushwhacks poured billions in military aid into Mexico for any other purpose. They are more than likely raking in billions themselves from the illicit drugs/weapons trade in both of their "war on drugs" countries--Colombia and Mexico.

A REAL "war on drugs"--if such a thing ever existed (and I think that some "war on drugs" personnel in the past have been sincere about it)--would aim at minimizing the carnage in the drug trade. Murder is worse than drug use or drug trafficking. And if the drug trade cannot be eliminated (as has become obvious), then the next best thing is to reduce the harm. What we're seeing in Mexico is the opposite--the maximization of harm--and this points to bad motives on the part of the supposed anti-drug "warriors."

And whose policy are we seeing here? Bushwhacks! Do they ever do anything that is not harmful? Name it. I believe that this "drug war" is their doing, that they are profiting from it directly (perhaps eliminating rival drug gangs?), and have the primary goal of fascist militarism in Mexico to grab control of Mexico's oil.
