I wasn't going to watch. I thought it was going to be just another puff piece about a dilettante who went off to a war zone looking for adventure, and got more than he bargained for.

But Mrs. talked me into it, and I'm glad she did. It wasn't easy to watch, and as the program went on, I got angrier and angrier. Woodruff really impressed me. His story is important, but more important is the story he told about the men he met at Bethesda, and their struggles after Bethesda and Walter Reed.

According to the Department of Defense, there have been about 23,000 nonfatal battlefield casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan. But through an internal VA report, Woodruff discovered that there are more than 200,000 veterans who have sought out the VA for care.

I don't need to tell you that this is important. There are 10 times as many casualties than the DOD are admitting, and the VA is ill-equipped to handle them. Meanwhile, the Bushies are closing VA hospitals all over the country.

We need to raise hell about this. We need to contact our Senators and Congressmen, and make it clear to them that this is unacceptable. Will you join me?
