Charges against protesting veterans dismissed, appeal planned
BOSTON -- Charges have been dismissed against 18 anti-war protesters who were arrested during a Veterans Day event in Boston.

Fifteen members of the Boston chapter of a group called Veterans for Peace and three of its supporters were arrested when they refused to move away from the podium at an American Legion event outside City Hall.

Prosecutors recommended either a period of pretrial probation or that the charge of disturbing a lawful assembly be amended from criminal to civil.

A judge in Boston Municipal Court on Friday dismissed the charges outright, but prosecutors say they will appeal.

1. LOL
These guys either don't want us to go scott-free or they want to keep the issue in front of everyone's mind.

At least 14 of the vets were (and are) ready to go to trial.

4. You would be surprised the number of WWII vets
You would be surprised the number of WWII vets who think Bush is stupid as spit and his War in Iraq is totally the wrong direction for securing America.

This has been an ongoing arguement out at the Veteran's home for some time now

5. so many of my WW2 patients echo what you said
when the words "George Bush" are brought into the conversation, the words "idiot","embarrassment",and "coward" roll off their tongues...and this is in a very red area.

6. Veterans organizations have been going at it forever.
American Legion and VFW against VVAW and VFP to name a few of the ongoing battles.

The internets may change the equation a bit. New organizations such as Vets 4 Vets and IVAW are gaining some serious traction.

There are strong believers on both sides.

7. Is there a way I can volunteer to drive veterans around to appointments, but only the anti-bushies?

8. I applaud your patriotism...............
helping out only aged veterans with whom you agree. The rest probably didn't serve their country as much.

9. The Bushies may have once served, but they now betray the country.

Republicans are TRAITORS.

Especially BUSHIE Republicans.

I don't come to the aid of people actively working to destroy the country.
