Rep, Buyer (R) to VETERANS: Shut UP!!!!!
WASHINGTON, Jan. 23 /U.S. Newswire/ -- An overhaul of legislative hearings announced by the chairman of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee seems deliberately designed to marginalize the influence of the nation's veterans on funding levels for the Department of Veterans Affairs and other important public policy issues, according to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Last November Committee Chairman Steve Buyer (R-Ind.) decided to end a decades-long tradition that gave veterans groups the opportunity to present testimony regarding a wide range of legislative priorities before a joint session of the House and Senate Veterans' Affairs Committees. The DAV and other organizations tried, unsuccessfully, to get Rep. Buyer to reinstate those joint hearings, which they viewed as an invaluable tool in formulating public policy toward America's veterans.

When the new schedule of hearings and their format were announced in January proved to be even more disappointing to veterans, DAV National Commander Paul W. Jackson sent a letter of protest to Chairman Buyer.

The first of those hearings is scheduled for Feb. 8, just two days after the anticipated release of the President's budget proposal for fiscal year 2007 on Feb. 6, and copies of written testimony from veterans service organizations must be submitted to the Committee by noon that very day. The Chairman also imposed a three-minute limit on oral remarks by representatives from veterans organizations, each of which could invite no more than five persons in the audience....

1. This is an insult to veterans everywhere
This criminal administration and their flunkies in Congress want veterans to do one thing for them; fight for the Republican Christian Empire. They do not want to hear or see any vets wounded in battle or sick because of their years of service. That is not a Republican problem, as we are supposed to be responsible for ourselves.

No one wants to see the end results of their war for world domination. Bastards.

God bless our men and women who served in the military. I thank them for their service to our country. They deserve the absolute best in care for their sacrifice, no matter the cost. Period.

2. Buyers can suck it.
I live in a block just full of Vietnam Vets. These guys have had it, and they aren't going to go quietly. The Repukes are going to find that guys like these have very little to lose--their health, their marriages, their good jobs . . . are long gone. They're a sleeping giant, and I think they've got some fight left in them. Huge protests by real patriots are coming to the streets in 2006.

God, I hate these sleazy, greedy, lily-livered, patronizing Republican dickweeds.

off-rant.

3. It is hard work telling yourself that what you are doing is the
right thing when people are trying to give you feedback that says the opposite.

Who do these vets think they are? :sarcasm:

7. I just received an E-Mail
from a military organization I belong too. Tricare fees are tripling for officers retirees and doubling for enlisted retirees under age sixty five.

I am not in the tricare system so I do not completely understand the E-Mail.

Retirees screwed again looks like.

9. Yep here's what's up
Your co-pays will double. You will not be able to have your own doc. Look at the Veterans Budget 2007 and 2008 will be worst.
