1. And be sure to check out the responses to the Newsweek
http://www.blog.newsweek.com/blogs/stumper/archive/2008/02/15/al-gore-to-the-rescue.aspx?AbuseReportPosted=true#commentmessage

Not too too many goofballs responding and there is even one from a lifelong Republican who said that he/she would vote for Gore.

Could it be possible still? Wouldn't that be an incredible shift in realities? Wonderful to comtemplate, isn't it?

2. Don't we wish!
But I can't imagine how to pull it off without completely p*ssing off devout supporters of Obama or Clinton.

7. Well, I kinda care about them...
but caring about the country trumps it all. I think that's what you meant to say, right? :P

:hi: good to see you again!

9. My fear of what is going to happen to our planet trumps all
And because I do not hear the importance of that issue from either of the other two candidates, I'd rather our next president be someone that does.

It's good to see you too!

Although, this is the 1st and the last place I check everyday (except when my computer was on life support).

13. I've noticed that too...
but thankfully the planet's not in crisis or anything like that right now. Because having our leaders ignore the severity of the situation and avoid talking about it except as the occasional talking point would not be a good thing.

Er. Wait.

4. And another discussion thread up front

Interesting to me is how many supporters from both current candidates don't find this hard to think about. THAT is surprising to me.

I din't get that, but then, I am biased against Clinton.

12. Just reading between the lines
Obama is leading in delegates at the moment. Bill is outta control with his mouth and could cause real damage to the party if he continues ... esp if Obama is the nominee. Personally, I think it would be very unusual but incredibly magnaminous if Hillary were to step aside now and allow Obama to start spending his money on the GE. If Gore can convince her to do that... well, he's just a god.

If he doesn't convince her and this does go to the convention... LOTS of voters will feel betrayed and disenfranchised by the whole process. We may get a President Gore out of all this... but at what cost?

10. Also,
check out today's NYT on line - the politics section. (I can never seem to be able to copy the url from there to here, so you'll have to search it out.) It's an article about all the fuss over the super delegates and how Gore and a few others are urging other super delegates to stay uncommitted at the moment, etc. Gore is viewed, according to the article, as sort of the significant, uncommitted party elder since Bill, obviously, is committed. The article certainly makes it sound like Gore is in the thick of things, nomination-wise, at this point. Clift's article really puts an interesting spin on the whole Gore/brokered convention thing. WOW!!!

11. Sure .... look at my thread #5 above.
That was my second (&(*&(^ attack last night. I do think Gore is in the thick of all this behind the scenes. Good on him for helping in this way.

15. My bad;
obviously I didn't look up your link before I got to my NYT on line this morning. At least we're all on the same page (so to speak). Isn't it interesting that once Gore's name shows up in articles like the ones cited that there's lots of activity on the Gore page once again. Good to see everyone's still burning this candle. In the meantime, I've started helping out a local congressional campaign to try to get another local Dem. in the House. We have a vulnerable Rep. here that's in his second term, and almost lost to this fellow last time around.

Also, in the meantime, I guess it's time to contact my local representative (Louise Slaughter, Dem.) and tell her to abandon the Hillary bandwagon (hard for New Yorkers not to back her in their super delegate roles) and at least stay uncommitted, or become uncommitted, for now. I might slip something into the e-mail about Gore being a good compromise candidate if things seem to be deadlocked at the convention, also.

The part about Obama or Clinton delegates being really pi**ed off if Gore stepped into the breach would, I think, be tempered some on the Obama side if he were offered the position as a strong VP. Hillary and the Clinton forces would be furious, of course, but then, there's no love lost there as it is now. That's really a hard one to judge, however, especially considering they've both spent well over $100 million to get where they are.

16. Well, me too!
There is a local dem who I think has a good chance to rep our district in place of Hastert. I just sent in my volunteer request last night... would like to help as I think his opponent could actually make Hastert look almost sane. We call him the Milk Nazi because he has an excellent over-the-top wonderful ice cream business that's been in his family for a couple generations and he's got some fairly extreme ideas about immigration and the role of govt overall. He just beat out a fairly normal Republican for the nomination... our republicans here are so hard to understand.

And not sure how this convention deal would work... hope and pray there is some unity afterwards as we need a dem in office to survive as a country and a planet. Not to put any more pressure on the situation for anyone. :)

I think this is turning into a very interesting political year. This development gives me great hope for Gore's role in whoever is eventually president.

however in this instance, I think any color would be helpful:
Color Black is protection.
Color Blue is calming
Color Brown is the Earth
Color Green is balance
Color Gray is serenity
Color Orange is change or zest
Color Pink is universal love or self-love
Color Purple is understanding and tolerance
Color Red is energy
Color Yellow is inner wisdom
Color White is all colors

Maybe we aren't that delusional. Plus, one of the four that is against it, will only be happy if the nom is Clinton. (I don't count him. lol)
