Interesting Applause Moment in Obama's speech today

I read the speech earlier today but only just saw some video of it. At his use of the phrase "...the most segregated hour in American life occurs on Sunday morning."

Now perhaps he was thinking more of the fact of predominately black churches vs predominantly white churches but it is much deeper than that of course, everyone going off to their own special god house. It is one of the harmful aspects of religion, it's ability and historical tendancy to divide us. Yet this phrase drew applause...interesting.

1. Very true.
Religion can bring some people together, but its history has far more divisiveness and disharmony than peace.

But I do think he was referring to "white" churches vs. "black" ones.
