An Easter Dinner...umm I think it was at least
ok, just as an example of the kind of 'religious' background I was raised in and why even as an adult I underestimated the strength of the negative reaction I might get for expressing my atheism let me tell you a couple of things about Easter dinner today (I decided against trying to make an excuse and just went)

Or rather let me describe what did not happen at the dinner.

- None of the greetings heard included "Happy Easter"
- No mention of Jesus
- No mention of church - I don't know if any of them went of not
- No prayers
- Ok the pie did say 'happy easter'
- No cards or decorations that made any mention of Jesus

:sarcasm: Obviously their god myth is fundamental and important to them :sarcasm:

But these are the people that get upset, react like I'm rejecting them personally when I say I don't believe in god.

1. I show no mercy...
I don't believe is gawd because invisible friends are for kids.

Easter? last I checked it had absolutley nothing to do with xtianity. It is a pagan fertility holiday, no matter what xtians might say, it is still a pagan fertility holiday. holidays to xtianity is like stealing a car; just because you stole it, it does not make it yours.

2. One other item about my day at Easter Dinner
this isn't related to theology but...well maybe it is in a way...I thought the people here would either get a kick out of this or at least appreciate/share my frustration.

Check out what I posted in Science forum about it: The subject is the idea that Oil is somehow produced not from fossil remains of life millions of years ago but somehow generated by the core of the Earth: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=228&topic_id=39111&mesg_id=39111
