OK, I guess I'm NOT an atheist...
I'm either confused or have just hardened my heart so much that I refuse to let Gawd in.

Sigh. It's interesting how people see things in their own warped ways. (BTW, the two come from different sources. 1 from a family member and one from a church-going co-worker.)

1. Heard this before...
That's usually followed by... "what happened to you? Why are you so bitter??" or "wanna come to church with me?... you'll feel better."

2. Like gag me with a crucifix....
I have had people try to recruit me into their cult on several occasions..even at work mind you, how rude is that.

I just come to the point, "No, I do not want to join you and your invisible friends..but thanks for asking." or "I'm proudly unchurched."

3. "I was born right the first time"
"Did a zoroastrian hurt you when you where young? So you are saying that there are other reasons for believing or disbelieving a religion other than emotion?"

"Did any christians hurt Epicurus when he was young, hundreds of years before your main man Christ was born?"

"Ooooh! Do I get a turn at making huge claims without evidence? I choose.... an alien reptiloid conspiracy! Your turn - it sure is fun playing pretend."

:)

7. "Why am I an atheist? Because God told me to, in a vision"
"What? The God/Devil thing is a total rip-off of Luke vs. Vader"

"Hmmm, I dunno. The muslims are offering a 30% discount on stationary when you join Islam"

Not that many of the ones we have been saying are suitable for use on family, but hey. They are great for co-workers.

8. I have to be honest with to whom I am speaking...
in regards to this religious nonsence. I can be merciless with different words/phrases and still get the same point acorss.

10. Oh, I reserve lines like those for people who don't care what I have to say.
If you think the only acceptable answer from someone is "gee, you are right. I believe!" ie. you are some kind of evangelist, then you get a response that is as mind-bogglingly stupid as I can make it.

9. I LOVE this one...
What? The God/Devil thing is a total rip-off of Luke vs. Vader"...I have some very religious coworkers..They aren't really intolerant of my atheism but they seem puzzled by it at times...I think this line is a good one to use....

and what's even more idiotic...no matter how you explain it, they will continue to think that. Some will even say the devil made you do it. :eyes:

6. One of my all-time favorites: "You're angry with God"
Huh? :wtf: I'm angry with something I don't even acknowledge?

Sometimes the ubber-pious say the damnedest things.
