Why aren't YOU at church?"

This was the question I got from one of the neighborhood kids, around 8 years old, who plays with my kids.

I answered in my nicest possible way...

I said:
"I lost my magical thinking hat a few years back and haven't found a need to attend a place to practice mysticism."

I know that this child didn't come up with this question on their own - it is a topic of discussion at their house...Why do I need to explain my beliefs? I do not ask the parents of this child "Why do you send your kids to a private Catholic school?" I mean it. I am so disgusted with religion that I could scream.
