Am I a bad person?
Edited on Tue May-13-08 09:31 AM by dropkickpa
I was just accosted outside of my work by two cute, clean-cut and earnest young Mormon men, Elder Smith and Elder Morrison (I estimate them to have been roughly 20-23 years old). I was not rude to them in any way, but made clear that I was not open to discussion with them. Here's the part I'm concerned about. The whole time I was talking to them, I was wondering if they were wearing their magic underwear and what they looked like in it. Does that make me a bad person? Elder Smith reminded me a bit of a brunette Mark Wahlberg.

1. No, you're a normal person.
Just a very humorous one. ;-)

Irony Dept.: what you're wondering about is exactly the sort of thing religion has been trying to suppress for a few thousand years, with no observable success at all.

For the record, I often have exactly the same reaction to some of the covered women over here.

I wouldn't have been thinking of underwear!

7. OK, now that made you a sleaze.

I see them working this neighborhood all the time, two clean cut young guys in black suits and pushing black bicycles. They leave my house strictly alone, so I've never been able to get close enough to see a resemblance to any pop star, let alone speculate about their undies.

Anyone who wants to get rid of Jebus salesmen needs to pay a night nurse to sleep on the sofa on weekends. I guarantee you that nurse will make damned sure that they never darken your door again if s/he is awakened by religious salesmen leaning on the doorbell.

2. Now I feel sad
You've made me realise I no longer do the "mentally undressing" thing. I'd like to think this means I'm becoming a better person, but really it just means I'm getting older. Sigh. Since it's spring, my project for tomorrow is to pay special attention to those skimpy dresses, and rekindle my inner perv.

No, it doesn't make you a bad person. If you asked them about the magic underwear, that would be bad.

10. I'm working at the university again. Imagining people naked is my second job at this place.
I love college. I love warm weather. The two go together so nicely.

I'm in heaven.

Too bad I'm an older perv who is practically married (albeit with a really attractive, smart women). 28 years old is practically ancient at this place.

They don't get much pervier than ol' Evoman.

11. I used to work at a campus university
My office overlooked an area where the students sunbathed. In summer, it was hard to get work done.

overlooked a volleyball court where the guys played. No wonder I didn't do that well the first semester of O Chem.

You reminded me of a thread in which your failure to define your terms was compared to genocide.

So imagining guys in their underwear is a minor transgression by your own standards.

21. thinking about underwear in general
Edited on Thu May-15-08 08:38 PM by Duppers
Thoughts on underwear, I think, is gender related. I don't have the problem. ;)

Not underwear related ...

Melvin: 'Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.' "

It's one of my favorite movies, of course. :)

22. I always feel bad for these guys on their missions...
Edited on Thu May-15-08 11:05 PM by cynatnite
They're allowed very limited contact with their family, mostly on foot or on bikes unless the weather's bad and it's very isolating for them. Their family has to pay for the missions, too.

It's pretty messed up.

23. They woke me up after a 12 hour critical care night shift
and before another one, leaning on the doorbell because the car was there and they were NOT going away without at least getting a name to baptize without its owner's permission.

I had little sympathy for them under those circumstances. In fact, I was rabid.

It's why they leave me strictly alone now and I like it that way. Maybe after I've been retired for another 5 years I'll be able to summon some sympathy.

For now, no.

24. I'll never forget the morning when two young "missionary" boys came to our door...
my little brother answered it.

We were all laying around, watching TV.

My brother said "Dad there are missionaries at the door".

And my Dad replied "Well let them in, I'm interested in their position!"

General hilarity.

My little brother was EMBARRASSED.

"You'd better go", he told them.
