Poll question: "Stone a Heathen Day" at the University of Georgia...What is your opinion?
PLEASE READ THIS ARTICLE: http://www.redandblack.com/2010/08/31/stoning-biblical-studies-complex/

Then come take the poll & then share your opinion with everyone...

My brother is UGA Alum and he said most folks on campus are very religious (DUH! it's Georgia) and usually preachers stand where this guy is standing preaching DAMNATION & HELL-FIRE for premarital sex & other fun folks have when in college...So, my brother & I got a laugh out of what this guy is doing as we understand why he is doing what he is doing...And his approach is kinda a passive/aggressive way of saying there is very little love for non-believers in this country...

However, after a good laugh I began to think to myself does this make us Atheist look bad? Or since we are already the most feared & mistrusted group in America for NO REASON AT ALL (Other than we don't join in the group make believe) why not have fun with it. Plus, it is a good way to confront those "Christians" who really have no clue what is in their holy book and maybe it might get to some & make them begin to question their religion.

PLEASE take the poll & then share your opinion with everyone else.

What do you think about the article?

1. hahahahahahaha
"they're giving Christianity a bad name!"

Those BASTARDS! Quoting our holy book of scripture that we claim to follow strictly!

I think it's harmless. I doubt it will change anyones opinion either way, so why not have some fun?

6. That is funny, huh...
If you read the Bible for what it says you are making Christians look bad...Or my favorite is the Old Testament is no longer valid except for things they want it to be valid for like denying evolution & denying equal rights to homosexuals among other things like the Ten Commandments!

7. that's not in MY Bible!
I've heard that quite often...

I was telling my mother about the sections in the OT concerning blood sacrifice, and the way to break the necks of doves, etc. She was absolutely floored. She's by no means a fundie, and she believed me, but she had just never, ever heard those parts.

I wish there was some way to actually tell how many Christians have actually read the damn thing. Most would say they have, but that usually seems to imply that they have read Genesis, and then skipped to Psalms, then skipped to the NT.

2. Apparently they got through the day without some literal-minded Christian
flinging actual stones at them--which is a good thing.

I don't believe that I would try the same thing in my area without wearing riot gear, though.

3. The plural of "atheist" is "atheists."
People do that with the word "terrorist" too. Drives me up the wall.

I was irritable last night and posted inappropriately. You didn't deserve that.

10. "Stoning" means to pile rocks on someone until they cannot breathe
Not throwing stuff like in Life of Brian (All I said was this dinner was good enough for Jehovah!).

11. Never heard of such a thing...
Or were you joking?

Because they throw stones in several countries so they must be doing wrong.

13. no, you're remembering something real
just not in the right context. It was a way to "test" witches. They would pile stones on top of them until they died. If they died, whoops, our bad, must have been innocent. If they survived, of course, they must be a witch

14. Me & my sweetie were riding our bicycles through the restored Morman village in Kirtland, Ohio
The big LDS church had purchased the houses and closed the streets in the old village center. We were zipping down one of the streets that they had closed and I called out: "I don't see any place where they burned witches!". A man yelled back from one of the porches: "You're not supposed to be riding bikes here!"

It was rich.
I still ride my bike through the village.

15. That is not to say what you described...
has never taken place...I am almost sure I have heard of that being done as a means of a slow death but it's not what most would consider "stoning" in the Biblical sense.

16. It's funny
but aren't the "heathens" afraid that some people will start throwing real stones at them instead of water balloons?
