Poe's Law
It would seem that what just might be classic examples of Poe's Law are starting to appear with increasing frequency. What is the best strategy to deal with it?

I would think that ignoring it completely, after labeling it as a Poe, would be the best idea, so as not to encourage more.

Responding seems to only worsen the situation. Thoughts?

7. We spend way too much time in R/T
You're probably better for not spending all that time there, but you also won't immediately know what's going on.

8. I've been going there more often as of late.
Also, I am becoming a bit of an anti-theist. Going there is speeding it up. Soooo, could you clue me in to what we are ignoring.

11. A humble man, no doubt.
That perhaps some have considered a bum. But I assure you I would never engage in such name-calling.

2. I'm not sure that one's a Poe
But some planned ignoring would likely lead to extinction, or at least reduction, of the obnoxious behavior. I'm in if you are.

3. I don't think it's a Poe, either.
As I've said elsewhere, if it is a Poe, it's pretty impressive.

I'm game for a planned ignore.

It'll probably lead to an increase followed by an abrupt end.

13. So poe or not, totally ignoring it seems to be the consensus.

I will not add another name to my ignore list, for I would miss the little gems of wisdom, but I will no longer be responding in any way.

Well, on second thought, maybe I will respond to SOME of the posts with my favorite new smiley...

Feel free to use it yourself.

I just can't keep away from it.

Though I have made a concerted effort just keep the discussion on topic.

15. Another live one
Apparently now merely typing as an atheist is "religion bashing". :eyes:

16. Actually, if it's the post I'm thinking of, it said 'region bashing'
Though as a non-American I haven't followed it carefully, I know that a number of southern Americans on GD feel that the South is bashed too much, and stereotyped as universally right-wing. I think the post was referring to that. Admittedly in R/T it would more usually be 'religion bashing'!

18. Someone else pointed that out to me
Given the forum I mistook "region" for "religion". I still don't get how that person thought mentioning the fact that NC has lots of churches was "region bashing".

17. Don't know about Poe
But there have been one or two posters who seem to *hate* atheists. I'm not talking about disagreement, or oversensitivity to criticism, but about people who truly consider atheists as a generally evil and dangerous group.
