Big Love - 5/07
I didn't see a recent thread for this week, I hope it's ok if I start one.

I'm glad Nikki's debt problem is out in the open. At least she is being honest about that. But it seems she is still being deceptive. For instance, she told everyone she wants to have a baby and yet she is still taking birth control pills. And tonight when she ran away, she told Bill she was in a shelter but at the end of the show she had a receipt for a hotel, so she clearly did not stay at the shelter.

I just thought it was strange that she is still not being totally honest with everyone. I would think she would have learned her lesson (lying about the credit cards) but apparently not.

Nikki is just sooooooo needy and insecure.

who can blame her look at the 15 "mothers" and the creep of a father she has

2. It seems that the "mothers" are more concerned
with caring for the father, and each other--the children seem to be secondary. Children don't really seem to be cared for or about. I was really struck by this when Nikki called her father for help, but spoke with her mother. Her mother spoke to her the way she does any other business caller to Roman's office. It didn't seem a mother-daughter relationship at all.

I haven't seen this week's episode of yet, but wanted to comment on your comment, greenbriar--as it is something I've noticed while watching the show.

3. good point!
She didn't really seem to come from a loving family atmosphere. So maybe that accounts for her need for attention........

4. ...and the way she treated her son on his birthday.
That's when it really stood out to me. His birthday was an event for her, a way to show off for those on the compound. There weren't even any other children there for him to play with. It was all about Nikki's need for attention, not about the little boy at all.

Broke my heart to see the little fellow in a three piece suit, on what should have been a day of fun for him.

5. I'm actually not so sure that bill was just for her

I think she and Bill may have stayed in a hotel when he came and found her. At first I thought she had, but then I realized she was looking awfully smug about it.
