Molly Ivins dies of cancer
Just logged on and saw this.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070131/ap_on_re_us/obit_ivins

"Shrub" was the first book I read about GWB in 2000, in which Molly warned America of the dangers of electing this buffoon to any sort of national office. God, if only America had listened.

RIP Molly.

1. I really will miss her sense of humor.
You're right -- that book "Shrub" was a great one and predicted everything that has happened.

3. Here's a wonderful obituary. .
http://www.creators.com/opinion/molly-ivins.html?columnsName=miv

"Molly Ivins Tribute", by Anthony Zurcher.

Here is the end (but whole obituary is wonderful: I strongly recommend reading the whole thing):

As Molly once wrote, "Politics is not a picture on a wall or a television sitcom that you can decide you don't much care for."

For me, Molly's greatest words of wisdom came with three children's books she gave my son when he was born. In her inimitable way, she captured the spirit of each in one-sentence inscriptions. In "Alice in Wonderland," she offered, "Here's to six impossible things before breakfast." For "The Wind in the Willows," it was, "May you have Toad's zest for life." And in "The Little Prince," she wrote, "May your heart always see clearly."

Like the Little Prince, Molly Ivins has left us for a journey of her own. But while she was here, her heart never failed to see clear and true -- and for that, we can all be grateful.

A heart that never failed to see clear and true: is there anything better to achieve, or give, in life than that?

4. Post with examples of her writing at Liberal Values
Some quotes from her and one sample column. I thought that such an example would be the best way to explain who she is in case there are any readers who are unaware of her work.

7. She'll be missed.
We have lost a lot of good people in the past several years. Sigh.

RIP
