Okay, this doesn't seem quite right

Slightly OT -- I went looking for an article on the washingtonpost.com site and a headline about John Kerry: The Ugly American popped out at me. Well, that right there deserves a response. When I clicked on it, it unexpectedly took me to the realclearpolitics website so I clicked my back browser button and looked more closely at what was listed on the washingtonpost.com site.

As you can see, there's a segment on this page that's labeled best of the web. Note that it's powered by realclearpolitics and then take a closer look at who's featured.

I don't have time to look deeper into this but I think that at a minimum, we need to heap on the derision that the post about JK so richly deserves. I also wonder about the selection of authors / reporters by realclearpolitics. Clearly their view of the best political writing doesn't jive with mine.

3. Thanks for the link...
...here's my response:

Dear Washington Post,

Your recent article about Senator John Kerry as the new ugly American (written by Victor Davis Hanson) is a disgrace.

Mr. Hanson takes a series of media-originated lies about Senator Kerry with NO context given and uses them to build his case that John Kerry is unpatriotic. Clearly Mr. Hanson is in deep denial, has no use for the truth about any of the Kerry events he discusses, and possibly has some hidden, underlying resentment toward Senator Kerry. The reasons for this hateful article are beyond me.

I attended the so-called 'botched joke' event in Pasadena...John Kerry didn't disrespect the troops. What's more, he never would do that. He's fought for support for them, both on and off the battlefield, his whole life.

His remarks at Davos, taken in context, are part of his continued effort to 'get it right in Iraq'... for our troops and for our country. Anyone who has listened to his Senate floor speeches, or heard the Senator speak at other events know what he has been saying about the need for diplomacy in the Middle East for a long time. And he's right about that. Until we get it right, much of the world DOES doubt our leadership, and fear what we will do next. "We need to restore our credibility around the world NOW!", to quote Senator Kerry.

Senator Kerry is a patriotic hero to me. This country would be much better off if he had taken office as President in January, 2005. The loss to this country of his leadership is a catastrophe. We need people to seek the Presidency who have intelligence, experience, honesty, patriotism and integrity. John Kerry has all those traits. What a loss for our country that he has chosen to sit out 2008! But I do understand why. It's people like Victor Davis Hanson who lie, distort, spin, and smear people who are responsible for that. Senator Kerry ought to sue...but he's too nice a guy for that.

What a horrible article. And for WHAT...

4. Ugh -- Google John Kerry and this article plus other ones asserting
the same thing pop up. One has Jane Fonda part of the article, too. One was in USA Today, the other in the Chicago Tribune. This sucks, and is totally bogus -- it also contains outright lies, like that Kerry didn't press Iran on their nuclear program which he most certainly did (per Europe Girl). In the past C-SPAN has aired Davos summit panel discussions -- any chance they will? Isn't there a transcript somewhere? People are lying about him in mainstream newspapers, and I wish somebody like Media Matters or another investigative site could counteract this nonsense.
