Kerry's interview by Tom Finneran on his talk show.
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 06:54 PM by Mass
I had heard he had a talk show now, but I did not know that he had Kerry today. Who is the woman with him? Is Tom Finneran too liberal for WKRO and need a wingnut with him?

Too much on Obama and his "wasted" statement. Kerry did well considering.

Interesting. Did somebody hear it?

With the snow day and the kids at home, I was pretty much stuck at home, except for driving to Boston in the middle of the afternoon (Terrible drive with the sleet and the rain). How was the day for you?

2. Thanks for the clip. The day ---->
Slush and freezing rain; cold, soaked, and frustrated people at work.

Heavy snow lousy roads and spun out cars at home. The storm I have been hearing about for 3 days landed on my house this afternoon.

Very gross on both places .

thanks for the clip. I hope it was a good one. Going to listen now.

3. Thanks, Mass
This was a great interview. Oddly the woman hawk helped in a way, because his answers to her were great. Few people have asked the questions that way - and he has an unusual connection with the soldiers. The fact that he could say - from his own experience, that if you are fighting of course you fight to win - then bringing it back to his current position to say that you need a good policy.

Is Finneran a Massachusetts politician?

7. He was also an invited guest at the Health Care Faneuil Hall speech

and got a nod from the Senator during his introductory remarks. Finneran had done work on health care and on the proposal to cover all Mass residents when he was the Speaker and it was nice of Kerry, all things considered, to make a point of acknowledging him.

Finneran was a conservative Democrat and, in the opinion of many Massachusetts progressives, was a principle block in getting more consumer and voter friendly legislation through the State House. (Ahm, that was very diplomatic of me, honest.) This does show that Kerry doesn't just let people go because they are unpopular and that he does try to remember all those who have worked on issues with him, even when those people have troubles.

Edit: Just heard the interview. (Ahm, I swear, I detect more of a Boston accent, even if it is slight, when Sen. Kerry talks on local media than I do when he talks nationally. I swear I heard this. LOL!)

Excellent strong interview. He answered all the questions about what happens if the US leaves and how do we deal with the aftermath and so forth. He also brought up how it is noble service to be in the military and serve your time. (That can't be said enough. It is a vital point to make. The war and the commanders might be wrong, but serving your country in this conflict is both noble and honorable. I was pleased to hear how strongly Senator Kerry made this point.)

8. Many ways a dose of reality
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 09:34 PM by MarjorieG
Co-host Wendy was concerned about America's reputation, as if staying longer will delay the having to admit any kind of failure. Though maybe a militarist, generally, she hadn't thought through to the harm of the military presence, preventing some of kind of progress and maybe a peaceful process to quell the civil war.

It was a very good interview in that her fears of what the end game would look like were voiced and discussed, by Kerry asking her to deal with the truth of what exists. How staying the same course will not help transition the problem. She represented what many listeners were probably thinking, and Kerry could address those disconnects between fantsy and reality.

Love it when he can engage in that kind of questioning that isn't gotcha, but just good conversation.

9. I heard it,
Nice interview. Although I have to agree with the woman hawk that Obama has gotten a pass from the media for the "waisted" statement, while all Kerry did was leave out a prounoun, that had some political fallout. I did appreciate him not taking the 08 bait and staying on message. :)
