Progressive Democrats of America, that is.

Even though it seems like it was founded in the ashes of the Dean and Kucinich campaign, I think alot of early Kerry supporters could potentially find a home there.

There is, of course, a tiny amount of anti-Kerry bitterness (c'mon, defeating their guy, then not raising a fuss about voter fraud like they did, it's hard not to blame them), as there is in most subgroups of our Party, but whatever.

I remember JohnKleeb talking about how some of the Deaniacs talk as though Kerry had no grassroots support, well, we could definitely shut alot of those guys up if we started getting involved in PDA, as well as giving us all a conduit to channel the energy we got from John and still have.

Just a suggestion.

1. yeah, but we don't need the PDA to do it
as JohnKleeb said, he had already been doing the grassroots campaigning for Kerry. just as many others did. why is what he did worth any less than if it was some PDA member.

4. I've been doing grassroots all my life
Sierra Club, NOW, PTA, Girl Scouts, local election work, Second Harvest, Head Start, alcohol/drug treatment. When you work within those groups, you end up dealing with legislation sooner or later. What we need to do is gather together the groups that already exist and communicate and work together. The last thing I need is somebody who just woke up to the fact that there's a world out there telling ME about activism.

Sorry, I'm just sick of the attitude.

5. especially
when their definition of activism is supporting whatever they want and anyone who may disagree in any way is easily called a sell out , corporate whore, traitor etc.

for those who know anything about activism they know it involves getting into a lot of conflicts with people. and not always because those people are horrible corporate types.

6. Ain't that the truth
And sometimes you have to do the exact opposite of what you think is right because that's what the group thinks. I even had to advocate for a new school building plan when I thought we could find a cheaper way around. That's the way it goes. If you want people to listen to you and work with you, you have to be able to bend.

7. It wasnt just the Deaniacs it was the the Clarkies too

but I am agreeing with JI7 and Sandsnea here. Even though for some reason, I am signed up for PDA, I dont like their Kerry bashing because I feel Kerry is one of the best guys we got in congress and was one of the best presidential candidates we had in the 2004 primaries, he was not a reluctant vote, and PDA has shit like that on their website I believe and anyone who posts that on an activism website is just stupid.

10. PDA is good, but I'd wish
they'd cut the anti-Kerry crap already. He's a solid Democrat and a great Senator.
