JK heading to Western MA for Dems' campaign kickoff
Democrats Plan Campaign Kick-Off in Pittsfield

- January 06, 2008

PITTSFIELD – Democratic Party leaders will descend on Spice Restaurant on Friday to celebrate the Berkshire Creative Energy Showcase and Democratic Campaign Kick-Off.

U.S. Sen. John Kerry, Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray and state Democratic Party Chairman John Walsh will be the keynote speakers. The event, which begins at 5 p.m., is sponsored by Berkshire Brigades, the county Democratic organization.

"We are delighted that Senator Kerry will be joining us," said Lee Harrison, Berkshire Brigades chairman. "He's a great friend of the Berkshires and he has a lot of friends in the county. I know people will want to hear what he has to say about this incredibly exciting election and to participate in our Berkshire presidential straw poll, coming as it will just days after we have primary results from New Hampshire."

This has been an exhilarating year for politics. I am watching every moment. It's been fascinating so far and I intend to stay tuned for the whole ride.

3. My Mom's family comes from Pittsfield. I can't help but be so pleased
to see one part of the state that consistently has been fond of John Kerry, including their local media. I wish I could go to that event -- what a treat it will be for all who attend.

As a side note, I was at the grocery store yesterday here in North Atlanta metro, and saw a woman come out with a Mitt Romney sweatshirt. I nearly burst out laughing in her face!! I felt like telling her that as a former New Englander she ought to take a peruse at the Mittster's '94 campaign against Ted Kennedy, and how eloquently he spoke for gay rights and a woman's right to choose. :)
