The Nation bashes Kerry while saluting Kennedy's endorsment of Obama
http://www.thenation.com/blogs/campaignmatters?pid=276186

In states such as Iowa, New Hampshire and Wisconsin in 2004, Kennedy gave an essential boost to the presidential campaign of John Kerry. The senior senator from Massachusetts lent liberal credibility to the junior senator from that state, while at the same time cloaking a candidate who never quite fit into his "JFK" initials in some genuine Kennedy star power.

Barack Obama is not so in need of celebrity assistance as was the charisma-challenged Kerry. But, as Obama takes his campaign on the road to "Super Tuesday" states such as California and New York, Obama will be making the Kennedy connection.

1. And
that illustrates perfectly why I am no longer a Nation subscriber.

They are just as willing to play the cheap shot as anyone else.

2. It's really a baffling day when the more centrist TNR is fairer to Kerry
than the supposedly liberal Nation.

3. Nichols never liked Kerry - Even during the 04 campaign, he was writing negative comments against
him.

He liked Dean and then Edwards (populist Democrat branding).

It is interesting that he reacts fairly positively to this endorsement because he generally does not like Obama either. He has been pushing for Edwards in the past. So, globally, the article is good news. I was just feeling sorry for the uncalled bashing of Kerry.

4. I never got how a liberal could have seen Edwards as appealing in 2004
They were constantly unfair to Kerry. I didn't look back to see how they covered him pre- IWR, but it just seems weird. (If they liked him before - it could be that they held him to a higher standard because of who he is. But, if it were this, all he did since then should count for something.)

It might be that he bought the Dean kool aid. Dean really engaged in lies, especially in February when he had already really imploded, hitting Kerry as being "with Bush on the war" and even attacking him for getting money from corporation/lobbyists - the latter sounds familiar in Edwards' attacks on the other two - so it may have been a Trippi strategy.

7. I go negative on this rag whenever someone is thinking about subscribing to it.
Senator Kerry doesn't deserve the BS this magazine spews out about him. Screw them!
