8. Oh Sandy, CONGRATULATIONS!!
but ya know what? Someday she's going to hate her Grandma for that nude shot!! I love her little "elfin ears"!! Enjoy her. Babies grow up tooooooooooooo fast! I know , 'cause my Aidan is walking, and a handful(boys usually are.)He is the apple of his Grandmas eye, and even more beautiful than ever. I love the name they chose for her. Make sure you send us more pics as she changes, and she will daily. Is this your first GB ?? Much love to you and the happy family. DC

14. What a handsome big boy!
How tall is he?? I'll have to get on my daughter to email me some recent photos. The most recent one I have is from their Christmas Card,( but not in my computer file yet.) I'm beginning to be a little concerned about him though. My daughter refuses to discuss it with me. He has all of the gross and fine motor skills. He's as smart as a whip,(he's been taught some sign language for my daughters sanity) Being a first time Mom at age 36, with NO exposure to babies before, she thought it would make life easier if she had a clue as to what he needed. His verbal skills is what I'm worried about. He's only saying Mama, Dada, Ba-ba, and cheeeeeze. He understands everything that's said to him. He nods his head yes, shakes his head NO, waves bye bye etc. If you point to animals in his books, he can tell you what sounds they make, but doesn't even try to say what they are??? If you tell him to point to something in a book, he points right to it and says "uh,uh, uh". Maybe I'm just getting old and can't remember when my kids were his age. He's 18 mo old now, and 30 lbs. and 30" tall. I seem to recall his Mom talking ,even singing, when she was his age. What do you think? Am I just a nervous Nelly? Anyone else out there have any input for me? Thanks DC :grouphug:

15. Oh I wouldn't worry
My daughter said her first sentence around that age, "Where's my goddamn shoe". You wouldn't want that now, would you? lol. (I can't imagine where she heard that)

My oldest had cognitive learning disabilities, he did some of the things you describe. He could understand, and answer questions, but not speak and express. But he was 3 and acting the way you're describing. Maybe he is learning physical things right now, and will get more expressive later. My brother didn't speak until he was 4, he had 3 big sisters who gave him everything. He didn't speak until he wanted something we didn't know he wanted, a puppy. His first WORDS were, "I want a baby puppy dog." Yes he got one.

Uhm, er, my grandson isn't a good comparison. We don't quite know how this happened, but he already knows how to write his alphabet and numbers. He's known them for at least a year, probably longer. Uhm, upper and lower case. He's known his colors and shapes since he could talk practically. He had just turned 2 and just counted to ten in spanish one day. He drew notes on a piece of paper and came out and told his mom that he wanted his 'instruments' so he could play a song. So smart and yet he still thinks grandpa can "flush him down the toilet", my husband was joking and he just freaked out and ran screaming down the haul. "Don't flush me away." He's a riot.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about him. And even if there is some kind of LD, there is so much help these days. My oldest had the most wonderful pre-school special ed teacher who just turned everything around. As long as he can understand and talk, he'll be okay in the end.

10. Aww!
I'm so happy for you! Is this your first, or how many do you have now?

Allow me to hijack a bit and post a current pic of my grandbaby Adrian. He's six months (this is a five-month pic tho.)
