I posted the lovely speech Kerry gave when Clinton's patriotism was challenged due to avoiding the
draft. It was so refreshing and good next to the seedy Clinton comment that did not say Obama was unpatriotic but said HRC and McCain were. Typical Clinton - the leap to the thought is obvious, but you can't completely pin him on it.

2. Karyn, that was wonderful.
It was so nice to read of a Democrat who backed another Democrat and didn't attempt to kick them or take advantage of them.

Thanks for posting that!

3. It does create a beautiful contrast doesn't it?
Principled vs unprincipled; love of country vs love of self. What I don't get is how Bill Clinton actually thought he had standing on the issue of patriotism. (I also liked that it answered the "Bill got off his death bed to campaign for Kerry and the ingrate endorsed Obama" crowd. Bill already owed him a lot by 2004 - certainly more than his autobiography shows - could it be he resents that Kerry really is the hero he never could be?

I had posted it here a long time ago - when I found it looking for something else in Thomas - that someone taught me how to access.

4. Kerry was supporting Tsongas at this time also
and Bob Kerrey was his own friend.

the Clintons have really disappointed me. i didn't want to believe what some others were saying about them before. that they could be this bad. maybe it was because i defended them so much when he was in office. and with what he is doing now did he deserve to be defended as much.

when i think back to that time, the 90s, especially the time Lewinsky thing broke i don't think i ever really liked them. Kerry was the first candiate i felt i could actually love, the person and what he stook for as a candidate. with Obama i see a candidate i can be proud to support.

i'm kind of glad i was too young to vote when Clinton ran both times. thinking back i don't think i would have supported him in the 92 Primary. i was actually surprised to learn that many who were strongly defending Clinton in the 90s had actually supported Tsongas in the Primary.
