Busy day tomorrow for Sen. Kerry
Edited on Sun Apr-20-08 08:56 PM by TayTay
Boston Marathon, 9:25 AM

BOSTON - Senator John Kerry will fire the starting gun at the beginning of the Boston Marathon Wheelchair Division on Monday, April 21, 2008.

On Monday, Kerry will ask the www.JohnKerry.com community to donate to Team Hoyt. Dick Hoyt, and his son Rick, have been racing for more than 27 years. Dick has pushed his son Rick, who was born with cerebral palsy, in close to 1000 events, including Ironman triathlons. The pair will again race in this year’s Boston Marathon.

The Hoyt Fund was established in 1992 to enhance the lives and mobility of people with disabilities.

And Sen. Kerry will be on hand at Fenway Park's Patriot's Day celebrations. (Patriots Day is a Massachusetts holiday that commemorates the Battle of Lexington and Concord and the start of the American Revolution in 1775. The Boston Marathon runs on this day in tribute to those events as well.)

BOSTON - Senator John Kerry will pin the Purple Heart on PFC Sean Bannon at Monday's Patriots Day Red Sox game.

Bannon, 22, of Winthrop, was critically wounded by an IED in Iraq. Bannon has spent the last month at Walter Reed Military Hospital in Washington, DC.

Bannon requested that Kerry, a fellow Purple Heart recipient, do the honors of presenting him with the Purple Heart and asked that the Senator ask the Red Sox if he would be able to receive the award at home plate in Fenway Park.

The Red Sox organization was happy to help honor one of our nation's brave Patriots on the 233rd anniversary of the 'Shot Heard Round the World', marking the start of American freedom.

Ahm, wow! That is very special.
