I have been getting hits on my Google alert of Kerry staffers visiting various towns in Mass. to answer questions from constituents. This seems to be part of a larger plan:

Staffers from Sen. John Kerry's office stopped in Waltham yesterday as part of the senator's plan to host office hours in the state's 351 cities and towns this year.

Kerry's office started holding those sessions last week, beginning in Leominster and Everett. The office hours give residents a chance to ask questions about a host of issues, including whether federal assistance programs might be available to them.

In Massachusetts, Kerry has offices in Boston, Fall River and Springfield. Kerry said in a statement that in the midst of a struggling economy, it is important that he and his staff travel around the state to connect with residents.

"Our doors are always open, but I think that in these difficult times we have to do more to make sure that everyone in Massachusetts can reach their government and find out what we can do to help veterans receive their benefits, help seniors sign up for the (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program), help taxpayers get the relief we just passed into law, and help mayors access economic recovery dollars for their communities," Kerry wrote."It is more important than ever that everyone in Waltham and across Massachusetts knows that assistance is available."

This is a good start, but the proof is in the pudding. As in delivering on those constituent services. But, as Woody Allen said, 80% of success in life is showing up.

Oh, and I want to know when they go to Granville, MA. Because I can't believe they would really go there! I lived over the border in CT in a rinky dink town. We would go to the Granville General Store to get some of their famous "stinky" cheddar cheese. The staffers should check it out.
